The potato is what we call "tudou" in everyday life. Potatoes are very popular in China; they are not only a vegetable but also a major food crop. They have a relatively wide planting area, and now potato yields are getting higher and higher, so the pressure of competition is also growing. Many growers want to improve their cultivation profits but do not know how to do it. Below, the editor will briefly introduce methods for improving potato cultivation profits. Let's take a look!

1. Seed soaking and sprouting

Before sowing seed potatoes, the work of soaking and sprouting the seed potatoes should be done well. First, cut the seed potatoes into pieces; each kilogram of seed potatoes can be cut into about 50 pieces. Each seed piece should be kept as uniform in size as possible and have more than one eye. Then wash the potato pieces clean and soak them in a chemical such as carbendazim for about a quarter of an hour. Then take them out and dry them. About three weeks before sowing, place the potato pieces in wet sand to sprout. Keep the temperature at about 15 degrees, and they can be sown when the sprouts appear. This can effectively increase the germination rate and enhance the growth capacity of the potatoes, which naturally also improves cultivation profits.

2. Timely sowing

There are also requirements for the sowing time of potatoes, generally from February to March each year. The sowing time should not be too early or too late. If it is too early, the temperature is too low, which will inhibit the sprouting of the potato pieces and reduce cultivation profits. If sowing is too late, the maturity time will naturally be delayed as well, possibly missing the market period, which likewise affects cultivation profits. After sowing, cover with a layer of plastic film, and keep the plant and row spacing at about 60*25 cm. The potato growth cycle is relatively short; under normal cultivation, harvesting can be done in May to June.

3. Environmental control

Potatoes have certain requirements for the environment during growth. And if you want to increase yield and cultivation profits, then you must control the cultivation environment well. Potatoes have a relatively large demand for water during growth, and the soil moisture content should be controlled at about 55%. Sufficient water can effectively promote the growth of potatoes. Therefore, we must water frequently, especially during the high temperatures of summer. If water is insufficient, it will have a great impact on their growth. Then also reasonably adjust the soil, fertilization methods, and so on, to create a suitable environment for potato growth.

4. Reasonable harvesting

As the harvest season approaches, we should frequently observe the growth of the potatoes. When the leaves of the potato plants are found to be turning yellow, it means the potatoes have gradually matured. Then, 30 days before harvesting, water and fertilizer should be appropriately stopped to avoid excessive nutrients and water, which would reduce the storage capacity of the potatoes. During harvesting, the harvesting speed should be appropriately increased to prevent direct sunlight on the potatoes, which would cause the skin to turn green, reduce commercial value, and affect cultivation profits.

The above is a brief introduction to how to improve potato cultivation profits. Actually, improving potato cultivation profits is relatively simple. As long as you do a good job in daily management and strengthen pest and disease control, obvious results can be achieved. That is all for today's introduction.
