Edamame is a common field cash crop in our lives, and its planting area is relatively widespread. During the cultivation of edamame, the appearance of rust disease seriously harms the normal growth of edamame. So how should edamame rust disease be controlled? Let's take a look together with the editor.

1. Disease symptoms

Edamame rust disease mainly harms the leaves. The affected leaves are densely covered with rust spots the size of a pillow. These are all immature uredinia of the pathogen parasitizing the plant. As the temperature rises, the uredinia gradually develop and mature, and after the epidermis ruptures, rust-colored powdery matter is released. In the later stage, small black spots appear on the leaves. These are the telia of the pathogen, but because most areas have lower temperatures in winter, the telia are generally visible in southern Guangdong, because the temperature there in winter is also relatively high, while in other areas there are basically no telia.

2. Disease pattern

The pathogen of rust disease is Phakopsora pachyrhizi, a fungus. Its pathogen mainly uses urediniospores as the primary infection source and reinfection inoculum, and spreads in the field with wind and rain to complete the disease, and cycles throughout the year. Disease is prone to occur in warm, rainy, and humid weather or in low-lying, humid plant environments. In addition, resistance among varieties is unknown, and whether some varieties that generally show relatively strong disease resistance can also resist rust disease still requires further investigation.

3. Control methods

1. Agricultural control

First, select disease-resistant and high-yield improved varieties. Before sowing, use new high-lipid film to dress the seeds for yield. This can effectively isolate viral infection, and it does not affect the germination and imbibition function. Instead, it strengthens respiratory intensity and improves the seed germination rate and emergence rate. During cultivation, ensure balanced fertilizer and water, and avoid excessive vegetative growth of plants and overly wet soil. This can reduce disease occurrence. At the flower bud stage, young pod stage, and fruit swelling stage, spray vegetable-fruit stem-strengthening agent once each time, which can strengthen flowers and stems, enhance pollination quality, and promote fruit development.

2. Chemical control

It can be combined with the control of downy mildew. When the plants are close to the row-closing stage, while spraying agents such as metalaxyl for downy mildew control, add 25% triadimefon wettable powder 2000-fold solution for simultaneous control.
