How are the prospects for grape growing? The latest analysis is here
Fresh grapes are deeply favored by consumers for their brilliant fruit color, juicy and delicious taste, and rich nutrition. Especially in recent years, domestic and foreign experts and scholars have unanimously agreed that resveratrol extracted from fresh grapes is a good substance for softening blood vessels and plays a very good health-care role. This makes market demand for table grapes even greater, and therefore the prospects for cultivation are very good.
Grapes are a universally loved fruit. They are excellent in color, aroma, and taste, satisfying people's sensory enjoyment while also having high nutritional and health-care value. According to measurements, grapes contain 65%-85% water, 15%-25% sugars, mainly glucose and fructose, 0.5%-1.5% organic acids, mainly malic acid and tartaric acid, 0.3%-0.5% minerals, and multiple vitamins as well as protein and amino acids. Red grapes contain relatively more pigments and tannins. Each kilogram of fresh grapes can produce 2928.8-4184 joules of heat. Raisins dried naturally in the air or artificially by baking contain more than 60% sugar and can produce 13974.6 joules of heat per kilogram. Ordinary wine fermented from grape juice is a nutritional health beverage, containing large amounts of amino acids and vitamins, 24 trace elements and other nutritional components. Li Shizhen once recorded in the Compendium of Materia Medica that wine has the functions of “warming the waist and kidneys, enduring cold, and preserving complexion.” The latest research report published in January 1997 in the famous American magazine Science stated that an anti-cancer substance called “resveratrol” has been found in grapes and their products, and that its abundant presence can prevent cancerous changes from occurring. Before that, a large number of research reports pointed out that moderate consumption of wine, especially red wine, can reduce fat deposition in blood vessels and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
In recent years, the price of fresh grapes has been stable with some increase. For conventional varieties, the income per mu is 10,000-15,000 yuan, while for high-grade table varieties the income per mu can reach as high as 20,000-30,000 yuan, and protected cultivation can even reach 30,000-60,000 yuan per mu.
The greatest advantage of grape cultivation is that when planted in the current year, it flowers and fruits the next year and begins to show returns, with a large harvest in 3 years, while under normal cultivation and management the high-yield lifespan of grapes can reach 15-25 years. So far, traces of grapes can be seen everywhere across the vast land of China, whether in the three northeastern provinces, the northwestern plateau, the Yangtze River basin, or the rainy Jiangnan region. The resistance and broad adaptability of grapes cannot be matched by any other kind of fruit tree.
