The Latest Technical Methods and Tutorial for Strawberry Field Management
Many people really like strawberries; they are sweet and sour with a very good taste. If there is a large strawberry field, whenever the strawberries ripen, just walking nearby fills the air with the fragrance of strawberries, and you feel yourself craving them right away. Today, let us follow Qinong Web to learn about field management techniques for strawberry cultivation, so your strawberries can grow better.
1. Growing Temperature
Strawberry growth has relatively strict temperature requirements. Strawberries cannot live in weather that is too hot, and they also cannot survive in weather that is too cold. In hot summer, we need to use physical cooling methods to control the strawberry growing temperature at around 20 to 25 degrees. In winter, we need to use greenhouse cultivation to keep strawberries warm, so the temperature can remain as balanced as possible. Only in this way can strawberries continue to grow.
2. Water Management
Strawberries like a relatively cool and moist environment. They are especially vulnerable to drought, so we must always maintain the moisture level of the soil. Generally, throughout the entire growth period of strawberries, watering is needed once every 3 to 5 days; otherwise, there will not be enough water for them to grow. The water requirement is greatest when strawberries are flowering and fruiting. If water conditions are not met, it may cause flower and fruit drop, and it may also make the growing strawberries deformed and their taste worse.
3. Planting Density
Strawberries continuously spread and grow on the ground, so they must be given enough growing space. If space is insufficient, yield will be seriously reduced. Generally, the most scientific planting density is 30 to 40 cm. Although the gaps may be a bit large at first, after a period of careful care, they will spread and grow to cover the entire strawberry field. In this way, many new strawberry plants will gradually appear. If the density is too high, you can also wait until spring to transplant the excess strawberry plants.
4. Fertilization Treatment
When it comes to fertilization, we must first talk about base fertilizer. Applying good base fertilizer is the first step in creating a good growing environment for strawberries. Generally, for base fertilizer we use plant ash or dry grass fertilizer or even livestock manure; these are all very good base fertilizers. Next, later topdressing of strawberries is related to fruiting and harvesting. Generally, the first topdressing of strawberries is about 5 to 10 days after planting. The second fertilization is when the first batch of strawberries flowers and fruits. Finally, topdressing should be carried out after each harvest. Generally, nitrogen fertilizer, potassium fertilizer and boron fertilizer are commonly used.
5. Intertillage and Weeding
During the growth process of strawberries, intertillage and hilling are generally needed about twice a year, because strawberries will grow new roots and form new plants. In order to make the plants grow more vigorously, we generally need to hill soil around the newly grown strawberry roots so they take root deeply. When weeding, be especially careful not to disturb the strawberry roots. Otherwise, it will not only affect plant growth, but also reduce yield, and even more seriously cause plant death. Therefore, when weeding, we generally gently pull out the weeds in the field.
6. Pest and Disease Control
Strawberry pests and diseases most often appear around September in autumn. The main pests and diseases include yellow leaf disease, aphids, gray mold, red spider mites, and so on. The general control method is prevention and treatment by spraying chemicals. (For chemical use, you can consult locally.) During the strawberry harvesting period, no chemicals can be sprayed, as this affects strawberry quality.
