How to fertilize pineapple? A detailed guide to the latest fertilization methods
We also call pineapple fengli (bromeliad). Pineapple, like jackfruit, is a tropical fruit. Although jackfruit has higher nutritional value than pineapple, more people perhaps prefer the taste of pineapple, because once ripe, pineapple gives off a delicate fragrance that smells very pleasant, making people want to take a bite as soon as they smell it. In recent years, advances in cultivation techniques have expanded the growing range of pineapple, so today Qinnong Net will teach everyone how to fertilize pineapple.
1. Apply a heavy base fertilizer
Base fertilizer is the largest single application of fertilizer needed throughout the entire growth period of pineapple, because it must at least meet the growth needs of pineapple for one year, so base fertilizer plays a very important role in the entire growth process of pineapple. Only when base fertilizer is applied sufficiently can the yield of pineapple be guaranteed. For base fertilizer, we generally use decomposed farmyard manure or organic fertilizer, and of course an appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer, phosphate fertilizer and potassium fertilizer can be mixed in. Among these, the amount of phosphate fertilizer used is relatively high, and we need to pay attention to a reasonable combination, otherwise it will be counterproductive.
2. Apply seedling fertilizer frequently
Pineapple seedlings need to grow for a certain period before they bear pineapple, and their growth period needs at least six to seven months, so we can use a slightly smaller amount each time we fertilize, but we must apply it frequently. This way we can better control the amount of nutrients needed for pineapple growth. For example, apply once when the pineapple seedlings have grown about nine leaves, apply once when they reach twenty leaves, and finally apply once before flowering. The first and second applications are mainly nitrogen fertilizer, supplemented by phosphate fertilizer and potassium fertilizer; the third is mainly potassium fertilizer, supplemented by phosphate fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer. Be sure not to get this wrong, because if the third application is biased toward nitrogen fertilizer, the flowering period will be delayed, and thus the best fruiting period will be missed.
3. Scientific flower fertilizer
If there are no problems with the seedling fertilizer, then the flowering period is generally around early December, so we can apply flower fertilizer at the end of November, and of course we can also apply it in December. However, if we start applying flower fertilizer at the end of November, it can promote the flowering period, increase the fruit-setting rate, and protect the fruit very well, greatly reducing fruit drop. We can mix urea and potassium fertilizer in a 1 to 1 ratio and apply it evenly for irrigation. In this way, the size of the fruit produced is relatively stable and looks very uniform.
4. Reasonable fruit fertilizer
Fruit fertilizer is a relatively critical step, because it not only determines the yield and quality of pineapple in the current year, but also determines the resistance of the plants and the yield in the following year. Therefore, this fertilization must be scientific and reasonable, so that it can both ensure this year's yield and increase the plant's resistance. Under normal circumstances, fruit fertilizer is mainly potassium fertilizer, and an appropriate amount of boron fertilizer is sprayed on. This can not only achieve the effect of strengthening the fruit, but also promote ripening and shorten the growth period. Secondly, we can also spray an appropriate amount of gibberellin to ensure the weight of the fruit.
5. Apply a heavy maintenance fertilizer
Maintenance fertilizer is actually equivalent to the base fertilizer for the second year, so maintenance fertilizer needs to be applied heavily and must be applied sufficiently. We broadcast maintenance fertilizer one to two weeks after pineapple harvest, and the fertilizer amount is consistent with that of the base fertilizer, but this time it is mainly potassium fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer mixed with water for irrigation, which is beneficial to the absorption by the plants.
