The Latest Milk Strawberry Planting Techniques and Method Tutorial
Strawberries are a fruit favored by consumers. In the past two years, a type of milk strawberry has appeared on the market. This kind of milk strawberry is not grown by watering with milk; it is just a name given by sellers to attract consumers. However, this kind of milk strawberry is more sweet and delicious than ordinary strawberries, and it sells extremely well on the market. So how should this kind of milk strawberry be planted? Let's take a look below with the editor.
1. Site selection and land preparation
Choose a plot with sufficient sunlight, high and flat terrain, convenient drainage and irrigation, and loose, fertile soil for planting. The previous crop in the plot should preferably be beans or vegetables. Before planting, clear weeds and take measures to eliminate underground pests. One week after spraying chemicals for disinfection and pest elimination, apply 3000-5000 kg of decomposed farmyard manure, 70-100 kg of superphosphate, and 30-50 kg of potassium chloride per mu. Combine this with plowing and land preparation to mix it evenly with the soil, then make raised beds 20 cm high and 50 cm wide, with a bed width of 20-30 cm.
⟦NL>2. Raising seedlings
Choose varieties such as Xingxiang or those with Xingxiang lineage for planting. When purchasing seedlings, it is best to choose second-generation virus-free seedlings. Old seedlings can also be used for division propagation, but the yield will decrease. Choose to raise seedlings in a greenhouse environment, control the plant spacing at 40 cm when raising seedlings, and manage water and ventilation well. Cover the seedling-raising area with plastic film to control temperature and humidity. When the outside temperature rises, remove the plastic film promptly, and also maintain soil moisture. When the seedlings grow to have 4-5 true leaves, they can be transplanted.
3. Transplanting
The transplanting time is in mid-to-late August. After lifting the well-grown strong seedlings, make holes in the bed surface and transplant them. The spacing between each hole is 20 cm, and generally 12000 plants are transplanted per mu. When transplanting, the inflorescences of plants in the same row should face one direction, and the plant roots should be spread flat and buried into the soil layer. After transplanting, water once with settling water to improve the transplanting survival rate. After transplanting, strengthen daily inspection, check the survival rate, and replant missing seedlings promptly.
4. Fertilizer and water management
Milk strawberries can bloom and fruit multiple times a year, so nutrient consumption is relatively large. Therefore, fertilizer should be applied in time. Generally, topdressing is done once at the initial flowering stage and once at the early fruit-setting stage, applying 10 kg of urea, 20 kg of phosphate fertilizer, and 35 kg of ternary compound fertilizer per mu. Similarly, the water requirement is also relatively large. At the flowering stage and early berry growth stage, irrigate once. During irrigation, let the water flow into the furrows and irrigate until the water reaches two-thirds of the furrow height, allowing the water to slowly infiltrate into the soil, then drain off the remaining water. In addition, water promptly during drought to keep the soil moist, and in rainy seasons take good drainage and waterlogging prevention measures.
5. Field management
Carry out intertillage and weeding 2-3 times each year. This helps decompose soil organic fertilizer, loosens the soil, allows the root system to spread out, promotes well-developed roots, and absorbs more nutrients. During the flower bud differentiation stage, in addition to maintaining moisture, also take good shade and sun protection measures. This is because during flower bud differentiation, strawberries need to maintain a low-temperature and short-day environment, which can promote the differentiation of the terminal inflorescence and axillary inflorescences, generally lasting more than a month. At the later stage of flower bud differentiation, promptly remove the shading and sun protection tools and keep the temperature between 28-30 degrees. If the temperature is too low, promptly cover with plastic film to raise the temperature inside the shed, keeping the temperature at least above 23 degrees so that strawberries can grow normally. In addition, humidity must also be controlled. Soil humidity should be controlled between 70-80%, and air humidity should be controlled between 60-70%. But when the temperature exceeds 30 degrees, ventilate promptly to lower the temperature. When humidity exceeds 70%, also ventilate promptly to lower the humidity.
