What are the latest planting precautions for sapodilla?
Sapodilla is a fruit with relatively high nutritional value. Its fruit is called sapodilla because it looks like a human heart. In addition, some fruit shapes are like persimmons, so it can also be called Wufeng persimmon. Its taste is sweet and delicious, the trunk sap is also a raw material for chewing gum, and it also has certain medicinal value. At present, it is planted in provinces and cities in southern China. So what should be noted when planting it? Let's take a look together.
1. Planting environment
The survival rate of sapodilla is greatly related to its planting site. Sapodilla is suitable for planting in a sunny and warm environment, so the representative planting base requires that the temperature throughout the year cannot be too low, and there cannot be too great a temperature difference. It is best to choose a hilly area, mountain slope or mountainous land that is sheltered from the wind and facing the sun, with deep soil, slightly higher terrain, good drainage, and no low-lying water accumulation. After choosing the planting site, deep plow it 25-30cm, apply base fertilizer in combination with plowing, and then rake it fine and level it.
2. Reasonable close planting
Generally, after seedling raising, field planting is carried out in spring from April to May, and field planting is also related to the yield and quality of sapodilla. Only reasonable close planting can increase yield and quality and maximize economic benefits. Under normal circumstances, 200-300 sapodilla fruit trees can be planted per mu, and their plant-row spacing is best controlled at 1.5 m × 1.5 m. Only in this way can the permeability between plants be ensured, and the number of trees planted per mu can also be increased or decreased according to actual conditions.
3. Fertilizer and water management
After field planting, young trees mainly undergo vegetative growth. Each time they sprout shoots, they consume a large amount of nutrients. If nutrients are insufficient, it is unfavorable for their growth, so fertilizer should be applied in time before each new shoot emerges. It is best to apply quick-acting fertilizer, which can accelerate shoot emergence and expand the tree canopy. For fruiting trees, however, organic fertilizer that continuously supplies nutrients should be the main choice. After the fruit is harvested, apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer once in time, and apply fertilizer once each in spring and autumn to improve fruit quality. In addition to fertilizing once, water is also extremely important. Water in time during drought, and drain in time during the rainy season to avoid root rot caused by water accumulation.
4. Artificial pollination
In order to increase the fruit-setting rate of fruit trees, artificial supplementary pollination is also an important matter. Generally, there are two forms of artificial supplementary pollination. One is the point pollination method, which means collecting the pollen of male flowers, then using a tool to apply the pollen one by one onto female flowers. This is more time-consuming and labor-intensive, but the pollination rate is high, and it is suitable for small-scale planting. The other is the powder spraying method, which uses a tool to spray the collected pollen onto female flowers. This is more efficient, and the success rate is also fairly good, making it suitable for large-scale planting. One thing that must be noted is that pollination must be completed on a cloudy day or from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a sunny day.
