Grapes are a fruit that everyone quite enjoys eating, and there are now a great many varieties of grapes. Their planting area in our country is also very wide, and as market demand for grapes increases, more and more people are growing them. However, many people do not have a correct planting method before they start growing, nor do they know what the cultivation key points are. Below, the editor brings you the key points of grape cultivation techniques, so let's take a look!

1. Digging holes and raising seedlings

The planting method for grapes is generally the method of raising seedlings and transplanting them, so before planting we must dig the seedling holes well, take out the soil, and then put in an appropriate amount of farmyard manure as base fertilizer. Control the amount of base fertilizer well according to the planting area; after applying the base fertilizer, cover it with soil, mix an appropriate amount of compound fertilizer into the soil, and after backfilling, let it rise appropriately above the ground. When sowing, in order to ensure strong seedling vigor and improve the germination rate, you can appropriately do the work of accelerating germination by wrapping the seeds in a damp cloth to prevent lack of water, and strengthen management after sowing until the seedlings emerge. Then transplant at the appropriate time in April-May.

2. Water management

After planting at the appropriate time, the management of grape seedlings must be done well; after planting, water thoroughly to settle the roots, then cover well with plastic film, seal the openings with moist soil to prevent water loss and improve the soil's water retention. Control the planting density well, and water at the appropriate times according to the growth of the grapes. During the seedling stage, do not water too much; when the soil is too dry, water lightly. After the seedlings survive, increase the frequency of watering, and water at the appropriate times according to the soil moisture content and the growth stage of the grapes. Do not water when the temperature is too high. Therefore, during hot summer weather, avoid noon and water in the early morning and evening.

3. Building trellises and guiding vines

Grapes are a vining fruit, so we must build the trellis well before the grapes enter their peak growth period. The trellis must be sturdy and able to withstand strong winds, preventing it from being blown apart by the wind and causing damage to the plants. When the new shoots of the grapes grow to about 520 cm, do the work of guiding the vines well, and apply additional fertilizer appropriately, controlling the amount and nutrient ratio well. After successfully guiding the vines, water once every half month; carry out watering together with intertillage and weeding to improve soil aeration, strengthen water and nutrient absorption, and promote the growth of the grapes.

4. Shaping and pruning

The branches of grapes grow relatively quickly, so during the peak growth period of the grapes we should appropriately suppress branch growth and appropriately prune overlong, overly dense, and leggy branches. Also, if the growth is weak, prune away the weak and unhealthy branches. In addition, we need to prune away the bud heart from the main vine to prevent poor fruiting and make the growth of the grapes healthier. Then, when the new shoots grow to about 28 cm, select plants with strong growth ability and health as mother plants, and clear away the remaining branches to ensure quality.

In addition, after planting the grapes, do the work of thinning and finalizing the seedlings well to ensure that all grape plants have the same growth rate and yield. The growth of grapes is very strong, and their water demand is relatively large, but note that there must be no standing water in the orchard, otherwise it will affect the growth of the grapes and lead to the opposite of what is desired.
