The yellow peach is a rather unique member of the peach genus (Prunus), rich in nutrients and containing large amounts of carotene, vitamins and other trace elements the human body needs. Eating yellow peaches regularly can help lower blood sugar and blood lipids, delay aging, boost immunity, promote digestion and increase appetite, making it a very healthful fruit. So how is this highly nutritious health fruit grown? Let us take a look at its cultivation methods below.

1. Orchard Planning

Yellow peaches are suited to growing in a warm climate. Some of the more representative yellow peach growing areas in China are Wutai Town in Pingyi County, Yanling County in Hunan Province, and Guidong County in Chenzhou City, Hunan Province. The orchard site should have relatively high terrain, fertile soil, loose soil texture, convenient irrigation, well-developed transport links and a complete drainage system. Land preparation generally uses hole digging, with planting holes dug deep; each hole is about one meter wide and one meter deep. After digging, pour in plenty of farmyard manure plus an appropriate amount of compound fertilizer and urea, cover with a thin layer of soil, and it is ready for planting.

2. Selection of Seedlings

There are currently many yellow peach varieties on the market, so there are certain requirements for choosing varieties and seedlings. First, we need to select a suitable variety according to the local climate conditions; varieties such as Huanglu, Jintong, Huangjin and Huangguan are all relatively good choices. Second comes the selection of saplings: we should choose saplings around eighty centimeters tall with a well-developed and even root system, and strong seedlings free of pests and diseases.

3. Scientific Planting

The planting time for yellow peaches differs somewhat from that of other seedlings. They are generally planted in autumn and winter or in late winter and early spring, when the survival rate is higher, and planting should be no later than the end of February. Each planting hole is dug in advance; the row spacing is generally three to five meters, and the plant spacing is three to four meters. The planting density should be planned reasonably according to different terrain and soil fertility.

4. Orchard Management

Water after planting to maintain soil moisture, and check the survival of the young seedlings half a month later so that missing plants can be replaced in time. Orchard management is generally divided into three stages. The first stage is the management of young trees; with young trees, our main goal is to promote their growth so they enter the fruiting stage as early as possible. First, we need to reasonably set the trunk height, remove buds and prune branches and leaves; second, throughout the entire growing period of the young trees, apply fertilizer frequently and in small amounts, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, to promote the growth of the young trees. The second stage is the fruiting-period yellow peach trees, where the most important thing is fertilizer and water management. Fertilizer and water management generally follows four steps: growth fertilizer, flower-promoting fertilizer, fruit-strengthening fertilizer and maintenance fertilizer. Then pruning and shaping, as well as artificial pollination, are also relatively important. The third stage is the management of old fruit trees; we need to extend the service life of the yellow peach trees through pruning and shaping, loosening the soil and topdressing, and achieve the effect of not reducing yield.

5. Pest and Disease Control

Yellow peaches basically have few pests and diseases during growth, but once any are found we need to treat them promptly. For pests and diseases of yellow peaches, we mainly focus on prevention: before budding, spray chemicals to prevent pests and diseases; second, after harvest, clean the orchard and disinfect it. In addition, bagging techniques can be used to prevent pests and diseases, and the effect is excellent. Among these, the main ones we need to prevent are anthracnose, peach fruit borer and peach fruit moth.

The above are the cultivation methods for yellow peaches, and we hope they are helpful to everyone. If you would like to learn more detailed yellow peach cultivation techniques, you can consult our editors, or follow our website.
