Passion fruit is a fruit that has emerged in China in recent years, and the passion fruit planting industry has only just begun to develop not long ago, and its development potential is still quite large. In addition, the profit margin of passion fruit is relatively large, so many people want to start planting it, but passion fruit growth has certain requirements for environmental conditions. So today the editor brings you the environmental conditions for planting passion fruit. Let's take a look below!

1. Soil

Passion fruit was originally a wild fruit, and its adaptability to soil is relatively strong, and it can grow normally in most soils. However, although it can grow and develop, the fruiting rate will be affected to a certain extent, and the quality of the fruit will also be very poor, reducing planting benefits. Therefore, before planting, we should choose a place with deep, loose and fertile soil, strong permeability and a low incidence of pests and diseases, and the soil layer must not be less than 50 cm. It must not be planted in places with poor drainage and water accumulation in pits and depressions, and the soil pH value should be controlled at around 6.

2. Water

Passion fruit has a relatively large demand for water. If there is a lack of water during the planting process, the number of nodes on the passion fruit tree will be reduced. In addition, the length of the passion fruit vines will be insufficient, reducing the flowering and fruiting rate and lowering the yield. It will also cause the stems of the passion fruit tree to become thin and weak, the leaves to curl and become short and small, reducing the number of flowers and leaves, hindering the growth of lateral roots, affecting nutrient absorption and the plant's metabolism, thereby hindering the growth of passion fruit. However, water should not be excessive either. If there is too much, it will cause root rot, triggering various pests and diseases, so water management is very important during planting.

3. Temperature

Passion fruit has certain temperature requirements, and different varieties of passion fruit also have different temperature requirements, but generally the optimum temperature is around 25 degrees. The temperature during planting must not be lower than 14 degrees, otherwise the growth rate of passion fruit will become extremely slow or even stop growing. Passion fruit has weak low-temperature resistance. If overwintering management is not done well in winter, it is very easy to cause freezing damage to the fruit trees, and in severe cases it will cause the plants above ground to dry up and die. The temperature also must not be too high. If it is too high, it will also inhibit the growth of passion fruit, reduce the stress resistance of passion fruit, trigger pests and diseases, and cause plant death.

4. Light

Passion fruit is a tropical fruit, so its demand for light is relatively large. Sufficient light can promote the growth of passion fruit plant vines, enhance photosynthesis, and increase the accumulation of photosynthetic substances. If there is insufficient light, the growth of passion fruit will slow down noticeably, branches will grow excessively, and the incidence of pests and diseases will gradually increase. However, when providing light, the sun must not scorch it. If the scorching time is too long, it will cause leaf yellowing, hindered branch growth, slow growth speed, and thin and shriveled fruit, causing serious sunburn that affects the growth of passion fruit.

Passion fruit's requirements for environmental conditions are relatively peculiar, such as liking water but fearing waterlogging, and liking light but fearing sunscorch, so planting passion fruit is relatively troublesome. Moreover, these are not only the environmental requirements for passion fruit growth, but also the management work we need to do well during the planting process. Only by doing these management tasks well can we ensure the normal growth of passion fruit and avoid unnecessary losses.
