The blueberry is a berry belonging to the Ericaceae family, and in our country it not only has an extensive wild population, but its cultivated area is also steadily increasing. However, because cultivation has gone on for too long, some veteran growers need to keep propagating it to protect their own growing returns. Among these, the most commonly used propagation method is cutting propagation, so how should it be managed after cutting? Below, the editor brings you the management points after blueberry cutting. Let's take a look!

1. Water management

Blueberries are relatively fond of water, and especially after cutting, sufficient water must be ensured to promote rooting of the branches, and we must keep the soil moist. However, pay attention to the amount of watering; it must not be too much or too much. The water temperature must not be too low either, to prevent affecting seedling growth. The more important watering time after cutting is from May to June each year, when the branches gradually grow leaves, but the roots have not yet fully grown out. If there is insufficient water, the branches will find it hard to root, and in severe cases this leads to branch death. When the branch leaves gradually turn green, this indicates that the branches have already begun to root.

2. Reasonable fertilization

What differs from other crops is that before cutting, it is not suitable to apply base fertilizer into the cutting substrate. Also, after cutting and before the branches have rooted, no fertilization is needed; if fertilizer is applied, it will have a certain effect on the rooting and growth of the branches. Once the branches begin to root, fertilization can begin, promoting branch growth and enhancing growth capacity. When fertilizing, pay attention to the form of the fertilizer; the fertilizer should mainly be liquid fertilizer. Control the fertilization amount well to prevent fertilizer damage. In the early stage of its growth, about once every 5-7 days, and after each fertilization, be sure to clean off the fertilizer on the leaves to prevent leaf burn.

3. Transplanting and field planting

After cutting, fertilizer and water management must be done well, cultivation and weeding must be strengthened, and a good development environment must be created for the blueberry branches. After the branches have rooted from cutting, overwintering is generally carried out on the seedling bed, but in areas with lower temperatures, transplanting can be carried out from September to October each year. Also, for those overwintering on the seedling bed, overwintering management must be done well: water with overwintering water, apply sufficient fertilizer, and then earth up on both sides of the plants. Raise the soil temperature and enhance the cold resistance of the plants. After temperatures gradually rise again in the spring of the second year, transplanting can begin, and when transplanting, be careful to transplant with soil.

4. Pest and disease control

During blueberry cutting seedling raising, various pests and diseases are very likely to occur, so pest and disease control work is also one of our management points. We must regularly disinfect the seedling bed, but pay attention to the use of disinfectants to prevent harm to the blueberries. Then frequently observe the seedling bed, and promptly remove diseased plants once found, to prevent the spread of the disease. Then, according to the specific incidence situation, spray the corresponding control agents into the seedling bed. Do a good job of ventilation and air exchange to prevent the greenhouse temperature from being too high and reduce fungal diseases.

The above is a brief introduction to the management points after blueberry cutting; the management work after cutting is very important. If management is poor, it may lead to death, and even if they survive, the plants' growth capacity will be weak, pest and disease occurrence will be severe, and the flowering and fruiting rate will also be affected.
