Mangosteen can be said to be a trendy fruit of the past two years, and it is very popular in the market. It is a famous tropical fruit, and at present it is mainly grown in Taiwan, China, Fujian and Guangdong, and other regions with relatively mild climates all year round. Its fruit can be eaten, while the peel can be processed into dye. Because mangosteen has relatively high requirements for growing conditions, today we will first learn about a few issues that need attention in its cultivation. Let's take a look.

1. Soil

The choice of soil for mangosteen cultivation is very important, and it has very strict requirements for the soil. Generally speaking, the soil for planting should be relatively fertile; secondly, water resources near the planting site should be abundant and the water quality should be pollution-free; also, the traffic conditions and water and electricity conditions near the planting site should be good, and the terrain should be relatively gentle, preferably a gentle slope of about 15 to 20 degrees; finally, the soil should be slightly acidic, generally with a pH value between 5 and 6, and rich in organic matter.

2. Water

During the planting process, attention should be paid to the supply of water. In order to ensure the normal growth of mangosteen, when planting mangosteen, we should do a good job of watering correctly, and at the same time note that there should not be too much water. Water accumulation is strictly prohibited, otherwise the mangosteen trees are very prone to disease. Therefore, during the rainy season, we should promptly dredge the ditches for drainage, so as to reduce the incidence of disease in mangosteen.

3. Light

Mangosteen is very sensitive to light, especially mangosteen seedlings. Under normal circumstances, mangosteen seedlings are suitable for growing under weak light conditions. If the light intensity is too high, it may damage the branches and leaves and affect the growth of mangosteen seedlings. So if the light intensity is too great, we need to build shade sheds, but we still need to maintain a certain degree of light transmittance and cannot use fully shaded sheds. Finally, after the mangosteen gradually grows, the light intensity can be appropriately increased, which is more conducive to the growth of mangosteen.

4. Density

Planting density is mainly a question of field ventilation and light penetration. If planting is too dense, then the light transmission and ventilation in the field will become weaker, which will lead to a stuffy and closed-in phenomenon in the field. This can easily cause some unnecessary pests and diseases and lead to reduced mangosteen yields. So when planting mangosteen, we should grasp the planting density well. Generally, the row spacing should be controlled at about 6 m and the plant spacing at about 4 m, and generally 28 mangosteen plants can be planted per mu. Of course, we can also scientifically adjust the planting density according to the fertility of the soil, the terrain and other factors.

5. Nutrients

The supply of nutrients is the key to the growth and high yield of mangosteen. Generally, in the first two years after mangosteen is planted, the types of fertilizer and the fertilization pattern in these two years are the same, and about 3 to 4 topdressings are needed per year. By the third year, the types of fertilizer applied change to a certain extent. Fertilization then needs to be carried out according to the different nutrient requirements of mangosteen at different growth stages, and the amount of fertilizer should be appropriately increased or decreased.

The above is all the content that the editor wants to introduce to you today. Due to limited time and energy, the editor has only briefly introduced some of the fertilizer requirements of mangosteen here. If you want to learn more detailed fertilization techniques, remember to leave us a message.
