Raspberry is a shrub-type fruit tree, relatively common on mountains in many regions, with excellent nutritional value, medicinal value and edible value, and its seasonal market returns are currently quite good. Many people want to grow it to make a fortune, so how should raspberries be planted? Let's take a look.

1. Site selection

To plant raspberries, you first need to know where they are suitable for growing. Raspberries have strong adaptability to soil and extremely strong tolerance to barren conditions and drought. You can choose a hillside area with sufficient water sources nearby, or choose a wasteland, which can both improve the environment and bring decent returns. However, to achieve high yields of raspberries, you need to choose a place with loose, fertile soil for planting, so as to ensure vigorous growth and more fruit.

2. Planting time

There is no need to worry too much about when to plant raspberries; as long as the local temperature is above zero degrees, they can be planted. Generally, planting is chosen in spring and autumn. The spring planting time is March-April, and autumn is best in October-November. Spring planting can bear fruit in the same year, but the yield is not high. Autumn planting can mostly bear fruit by the next summer, and after three years it enters the full fruit-bearing period, able to produce fruit continuously for over 30 years. Plant once and harvest for many years; it is an excellent shrub fruit tree.

3. Propagation methods

The simplest propagation method for planting raspberries is layering propagation. Select a fruit tree with excellent variety, choose its robust, pest- and disease-free branches, and insert them completely into the soil. When inserting, use a knife to make a ring cut of about one cm at the top as a wound, then bury it in the soil, cover with soil and water. After about 20 days, this branch will take root and form a new plant. At this point, separate it from the mother plant and plant it elsewhere.

4. Field management

After planting, weeds should be removed promptly to prevent them from affecting the growth of young plants. In drought, water should be applied to keep the soil moist, so as not to hinder root development. After more than a month, the young plants enter a period of vigorous growth. At this time, topdressing and light exposure should begin. You can choose some decomposed organic fertilizer; this kind of fertilizer is relatively mild, will not burn the roots of young plants, and is easily absorbed by the plant roots. During the fruiting period, topdressing should also be applied once to maintain what is needed for fruit development. After harvesting, topdressing should also be applied once to promote recovery of tree vigor so that it continues to grow and bear fruit.
