Bananas are a common fruit available year-round in many places, but they can only be grown in tropical regions. Their cultivation history is quite long, they are well loved by people, and there is a large market space for selling them to non-tropical regions. So now in tropical regions, bananas can be said to be planted on a large scale. Banana cultivation mainly depends on the management of the later growth period, and the management of young banana trees and mature trees is also somewhat different. The content of this article is mainly about this aspect of management. You can pay attention to the following content.

1. Field planting

When the seedlings grow to 6 to 7 leaves, they can be transplanted. Before transplanting, hardening off should be carried out. The hardening method is to cover the seedlings with film bags, which can strengthen the roots and stems, and then plant them, which can improve the survival rate to some extent. Hardening off is

one of the conditions for ensuring high yield and quality. Field planting should be carried out on cloudy days or in light rain, as this is beneficial for root growth and reduces transpiration. The film bags need to be removed before planting, and after planting, water thoroughly to stabilize the roots.

2. Light

During the seedling stage, bananas are easily sunburned by strong light on their tender tissues, so a shade net should be covered for one week to half a month after planting to reduce direct sunlight and avoid scorching. Wait until the seedling recovery period has passed and the leaves are slightly firmer before removing the shade net. Generally, after sunburn, blisters or dehydration and blackening will appear, affecting photosynthesis. Light in tropical regions generally meets the growth needs of bananas, so insufficient light will not occur.

⟦NL>3. Fertilizer and water

Generally, the fertilizer requirement for bananas is a combination with the most potassium, followed by nitrogen, and the least phosphorus. This is the fertilizer amount suitable for banana growth. When planting, sufficient base fertilizer is needed. The base fertilizer can use livestock manure or decomposed compost made from leaves and other materials. The amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium contained in some fertilizers can be tested, and corresponding adjustments can be made. If there is a shortage, chemical fertilizer can be added; if there is too much, the amount of compost proportioning materials can be reduced. In this way, the most suitable fertilizer is prepared. In addition to base fertilizer, topdressing during the flowering and fruiting period can be applied in small amounts multiple times. Do not apply too much at once, as too high a concentration can easily damage the roots. About one week before base fertilizer application, irrigate once to moisten the soil and protect the roots. Topdressing can be made into dilute fertilizer water for multiple drip irrigations.

4. Pests and diseases

Seedlings are easily harmed by whiteflies. Because the seedling stage is fragile, low-concentration spraying at multiple intervals can be used for control. For mature plants, the main control target is aphids. Aphids suck sap and transmit viruses, causing relatively great damage. Generally, 40% dimethoate 600 times liquid is used for control. Mature plants have somewhat higher tolerance to pesticides, so spraying once about every one week is acceptable. The main disease to control is bunchy top disease. In the early stage, bunchy top treatment plus white vinegar dissolved in water at 1000 times can be used, with 300 grams of medicinal solution per plant (about half a spoonful), slowly dripped from the top center downward and injected into the banana pseudostem for treatment. Severe cases can be dug out and removed.

There are some issues to pay attention to when planting bananas, otherwise they will affect banana growth. These points to note are what we do in banana planting management work. Therefore, when planting, carrying out detailed management in these aspects can ensure that the banana trees are robust and achieve abundant and high yields.
