How can you extend the flowering period of the trailing lantana? These methods are very practical

This plant has a particularly long flowering period, which can extend from spring into autumn and winter. This herbaceous plant develops vine-like stems when its branches grow large, so it can be grown not only in pots but also as a hanging ornamental. So if you want to further extend its flowering period and see it bloom often, what should you do? Here are a few points to keep in mind.

1. Soil selection. To extend its flowering period, every aspect must be handled well. Although this plant is not very demanding about soil, if you can prepare loose, fertile and fairly moist neutral soil for it, its nodes and branches will root quickly, grow stronger and stronger, and bloom more abundantly.

2. Moderate moisture. The roots of this plant are relatively shallow, so in summer be sure to water it to effectively prevent drought. During care, whether there is too much or too little water is very unfavorable for its growth. Too much water leads to a reduced number of flowers; too little water causes poor development and even early fruiting. So if you want to see it bloom continuously, you must control the amount of watering well.

3. Sufficient light. Except in winter, this plant must be properly shaded from sunlight in the other seasons. If the ambient temperature is high and there is strong light exposure, its leaves will shrink significantly, the internodal spacing will shorten, the leaves at the base will turn yellow and fall off, until it goes dormant.

4. Suitable temperature. This plant likes a warm environment and does not like overly hot weather, so once the temperature is above 34 degrees, its growth will slow down; but it also cannot tolerate overly cold weather, and once the temperature is below 4 degrees, it will go dormant or even die. So it is best to arrange an environment where the temperature is kept constant at 15 degrees to 25 degrees.

5. Timely topdressing. Like other herbaceous flowers, this plant needs large amounts of water and fertilizer, but also remember the principle of applying thin fertilizer and applying it multiple times.

6. Pruning and pinching. Before this plant blooms fully, it needs to be pinched twice, so as to promote the sprouting of branches and flower buds.
