How to extend the blooming period of the white magnolia? Practical care methods to share

This plant is what we commonly call the "spring-welcoming flower." When it blooms, its fragrance fills the air and it is especially beautiful. So what should we do to extend its blooming period a little?

1. If you need to transplant it

Try to do it in spring when it is blooming or in autumn after the leaves have fallen. When transplanting, it is best to keep some soil around the roots rather than planting bare-rooted, otherwise the roots are easily damaged. Before potting, we need to trim off some leaves to reduce water loss.

2. Control of various factors

As for light, it must be grown in a bright environment for its blooming period to be extended as much as possible, and the flowers will also be more numerous and more fragrant. In addition, according to its needs, we also need to pay attention to water and nutrients. Also, to keep weeds from absorbing the nutrients in the soil, we need to weed in time to provide sufficient nutrients for the plant to bloom; doing so helps extend the blooming period. There is also temperature: as we all know, in a warm environment the plant tends to bloom and the blooming time is correspondingly longer, so we can adopt the method of appropriately raising the temperature.

3. Shaping and pruning

Before the leaf buds sprout, we can do one round of pruning, which is beneficial for its blooming. First, we need to know that this plant has relatively poor healing ability, so we cannot prune excessively; we only need to cut off the leggy branches, branches with pests or disease, dried-up branches, and aged branches. In addition, after pruning, we also need to apply some anti-corrosion film to protect the wounds and promote their healing, and it can also prevent pathogens from soil and rain from invading. In this way, the blooming period can be extended.
