How to get a hydroponic peace lily through winter? These winter care methods you need to master
1. Temperature
Temperature needs to be guaranteed, because winter temperatures are unsuitable for most plants, but it can grow normally above 5°C, so there is generally no need to worry. When the temperature drops below what normal growth requires, then heating facilities must be used.
2. Light
Because it does not need much sunlight, even though winter light is scarce, we do not need to worry too much. Simply placing it in an environment with diffused light is enough to ensure it grows very well.
3. Changing the water
Changing the water has its own purposes. First, it ensures sufficient oxygen is contained in the water, so its roots can grow normally. Second, it prevents the water from spoiling and producing bacteria that would affect its normal growth. Generally speaking, there is a method to changing the water. We cannot simply pour it all out and replace it with new water; it is best to give it part old water and part new water. In addition, the new water we add also needs to have been exposed to sunlight, and its temperature should ideally be no different from room temperature. The interval between water changes is generally between 10 and 15 days. While doing this, you can also add some nutrient solution, so it can properly absorb nutrients.
4. Cleaning
If moss grows, we need to clean it off, because it consumes oxygen, and the roots cannot breathe as smoothly.
5. Nutrient solution
In winter we need to spray nutrient solution on the surface of its leaves, so its resistance to low temperatures will be strengthened and the leaves will also be more glossy.
