What to Do If a Dragon Bone Flower Has Root Rot? Practical Prevention and Treatment Tips

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
This plant is also called the measuring sky ruler (dragon bone flower), a very bold and pleasant name. It is not afraid of drought and does not fear sunlight, so there is no need to water it every day. If the water in the soil does not decrease for a long time, it will develop root rot. Therefore, the main reason its roots rot is still improper care by the owner, which will affect its future growth and cause it harm. We must immediately take prevention and treatment measures.

I. Causes of Root Rot

1. Too much water in the flower pot, which is the most common cause.

2. Some people like to place the plant indoors for viewing. It is best to place it in an area that gets light so it can see more sun. If it is summer, the light is very strong. Although it is not afraid of sun exposure, it still needs appropriate shading from the sun to grow vigorously. If these points are not paid attention to, it may also develop root rot.

3. Some flower lovers fertilize the dragon bone flower to make it grow more luxuriantly and beautifully, but the amount is sometimes hard to control. If it is too concentrated, its roots will also rot. It is best to fertilize every 15 to 20 days during its growth period. In winter, when the temperature is too low, this plant will stop growing, and at that time it should no longer be fertilized. Fertilizing in very cold weather can also cause root rot. In winter, root growth slows down and the rate of nutrient absorption also decreases. The fertilizer cannot be absorbed, which will hinder the root system. In winter, to prevent root rot, place the plant in the sun and turn the direction of the flower pot every once in a while.

II. Prevention and Treatment Measures

1. If the root damage is caused by too much water, pour out the excess water. If the soil can still be used, it can continue to be used. If the soil is no longer very breathable, it is recommended to replace it with new soil. Then place the flower pot in a ventilated area to dry.

2. According to the above, place it in a position with suitable light and apply fertilizer according to the specific situation.

3. If the roots of the plant have already rotted, immediately cut off the rotten parts, then use ash from burned grass to disinfect the remaining parts, place them in a shady area for 2-3 days, and then insert them into new fine sand. Do not put soil in. The fine sand should be more than 5 cm deep, then water it. After that, if the moisture in the fine sand does not decrease, do not add water again. You can spray a little water on the plant, but do not pour it into the sand. If your plant is very large, you can cut it into several plants, because if it is too large, it will easily fall over, and instead it will be less likely to survive. Leave it quietly in a windy and bright area. The temperature requirement is 25-30°C, and the humidity should be 30% to 50%. During this period, do not add fertilizer. After one month, it will take root.
