What to Do When the Leaves of a Radermachera sinica (China Doll) Wilt? Causes and Solutions
1. Suitable temperature. This plant is a species that grows in low-latitude regions, so cultivating it in more northerly areas easily leads to problems with unsuitable temperatures. It likes a growth environment with mild temperatures. If, during the winter, the temperature inside the greenhouse is lower than 8 degrees, or the outdoor cultivation temperature is lower than 5 degrees, then it will cause leaf drop and frostbitten leaves. We can move it indoors with air conditioning or heating to ensure the temperature stays above 8 degrees, so as to prevent the leaves from wilting.
2. Appropriate moisture. Although this plant likes a moist growing environment, if it endures waterlogging for a long time or short-term drought, it will cause the leaves to wilt. If it has suffered from waterlogging, you can take it out of the pot, then place it in a spot with scattered light to let the potting soil dry out as quickly as possible. Once dry, it can be replanted, but be sure to mist the leaves; if it is drought damage, what we need to do is mist the plant, several times, and finally pour water onto the potting soil.
3. Timely fertilization. If too much or too concentrated fertilizer is applied, causing root rot, it will likewise make the leaves wilt, but unfortunately, this kind of damage can no longer be remedied.
4. Air humidity. This plant likes relatively high air humidity. If it is placed for a long time in the path of an air conditioner outlet, or when opening windows for ventilation, if the hot air is too dry or the spring wind is too dry, it will quickly lose water and the leaves will wilt. What we need to do is mist it as soon as possible and move it from its original position.
