From May to June, apple trees have entered a very critical stage of nutrient management for the whole year. Fertilization during this period can determine the yield and quality of apples in the current year, and at the same time has a close connection with and impact on the yield of the next year. According to the fertilizer requirement characteristics of apple trees at this stage, providing sufficient nutrients for the fruit trees will lay a solid foundation for improving fruit quality and increasing yield.

During the fruit enlargement period, do not forget to supplement calcium!

From May to June, the first task of apples at this time is the enlargement of young fruit. Starting in May, apples enter the first young fruit enlargement stage. At this time, the fruit has changed from the nitrogen nutrition stage to the sugar nutrition stage, requiring a large supply of nutrients and water. If nutrition is insufficient, it will lead to fruit drop and fruit cracking. Therefore, during the fruit enlargement period, it is necessary to ensure sufficient water and nutrients to meet the physiological needs of fruit development, so that the fruit rapidly enlarges, has good color, and reduces fruit drop and fruit cracking.

At this stage, it is the peak period for calcium absorption by fruit trees throughout the year. Supplementing with calcium fertilizer that has high absorption and utilization efficiency is one of the key means of determining apple quality. Fruit trees have 3 calcium demand peaks each year. The 1st is 20 to 30 days after petal fall; the 2nd is during the fruit enlargement period; the 3rd is 20 to 30 days before harvest. The calcium absorbed during this period can supply the needs of fruit tree growth in the spring of the following year. At this time, calcium fertilizer needs to be supplemented once every 7 to 10 days. Supplementing calcium for fruit trees at the right time can effectively prevent weakened growth of young leaves, leaf chlorosis and yellowing, sunken spots on fruit, and phenomena such as flesh discoloration, softening, and bitterness, and can significantly improve fruit quality and yield.

Bitter pit in apples caused by calcium deficiency

It is recommended to apply Bosheng plasma calcium, because it specially adopts low-temperature plasma technology to open the calcium ion channels of crops and greatly improve the absorption and utilization rate of calcium. While supplementing calcium, it enhances crop stress resistance and effectively strengthens the ability of crops to resist drought, salt damage, freezing damage, sunscald, diseases and insect pests, and so on.

Usage method and recommendations: dilute with water 1500 to 2000 times and spray evenly on the leaf surface. At intervals of 7 to 10 days, spray continuously 3 to 4 times. During the young fruit stage, fruit enlargement stage, and other periods when calcium deficiency is obvious, the concentration used can be appropriately increased. It is recommended not to use it during extreme drought, heavy rain, frost, and the full flowering period of crops. Orchards with dense growth should be pruned to open the light path and promote calcium absorption.

Plasma boron fertilizer is indispensable!

The second task is the second peak of root growth. In the 3 stages of fruit tree root growth, phosphorus is key. Next, boron and calcium can stimulate root development and work together to promote an increase in the number of root hairs. The role of timely calcium supplementation has already been mentioned above. At the same time, appropriately supplementing sufficient water-soluble phosphorus and boron, with multiple nutrient elements stimulating at the same time, is the key to ensuring healthy roots and is also the key to determining whether fruit trees can achieve high yield.

Boron is an essential nutrient element for fruit tree growth. Although the amount used is not large, the effect is significant. Experiments have shown that spraying boron fertilizer 2 times on apples, pears, peaches, and grapes at the flowering stage and young fruit stage respectively can increase the fruit setting rate by 1 to 4 times, and can also reduce fruit shrinkage disease, resulting in high yield and good quality.

Bosheng plasma boron uses high-quality water-soluble polymeric sugar alcohol boron raw material and low-temperature plasma patented technology. The active ingredient content is high, with boron content as high as 150 grams per liter. It is fully soluble in water, has good mobility, and has a high absorption rate, so plants can fully and effectively absorb and utilize it. Spraying it on leaves from before flowering to after harvest allows it to be stored in the branches and trunks of fruit trees; when fruit trees bloom, it can be transferred to the flowers in time for flowering and fruit setting.

Usage method: it is recommended to dilute with water 1500 to 2000 times and spray evenly on the leaf surface. At intervals of 7 to 10 days, spray continuously 3 to 4 times. Each region should appropriately adjust the amount according to crop growth conditions.

In addition to supplementing boron, during this period, the third task for fruit trees is for new shoots to stop growing and leaf area to increase. At this stage, a certain amount of nitrogen and magnesium is needed to ensure leaf quality. A reasonable leaf-to-fruit ratio can ensure apple yield. Therefore, at this stage, promoting leaf thickness and reasonable leaf area and preventing some leaf diseases are key.

The fourth task is flower bud differentiation. Starting from early to mid-May, the growth of new shoots of fruit trees slows down and gradually stops, and they begin to enter the flower bud differentiation period one after another. At this stage, there must be sufficient nutrient supply and a reasonable ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium to ensure the quantity and quality of flower buds in fruit trees. Phosphorus can promote flower formation, and water-soluble available phosphorus is the key to promoting flower formation; in addition, nitrogen is also an essential element for flower bud differentiation, and nitrogen deficiency may cause an increase in the proportion of deformed flowers; potassium can increase the activity of flower-forming enzymes.

In addition, by grasping the growth characteristics of fruit trees during this period and combining Chongshuo high-potassium water-soluble flush fertilizer and Fuyousu high-potassium macro-element water-soluble fertilizer, it helps stimulate fruit tree growth and strengthen the synthesis and transport of sugars, starch, protein, fat, and various vitamins by enzymes. It can stimulate the activity of polysaccharide enzymes, convert polysaccharides into soluble monosaccharides, and thereby improve fruit sweetness and quality. It is hoped that the majority of growers will fertilize scientifically according to actual conditions and manage carefully, and we believe they will surely welcome a harvest season!
