Weed species in autumn-sown garlic fields in 2017 and chemical weed control methods
It is once again the autumn garlic planting season. Weeds in garlic fields have a long occurrence period, many species and severe damage, and are one of the main pests affecting garlic yield and quality. How to do a good job of chemical weed control in garlic fields is one of the necessary prerequisites for ensuring the normal growth of garlic, so what are the main weeds in autumn-sown garlic fields? How should chemical weed control be carried out?
Weeds in garlic fields have two peak occurrence periods: one is from sowing to the seedling stage (before winter), and the other is from the beginning of spring to bolting. A single application of herbicide can hardly achieve complete control.
What are the main weeds in autumn-sown garlic fields?
The main weeds in garlic fields are:
Grass family weeds: Alopecurus aequalis (shortawn foxtail), Digitaria sanguinalis (crabgrass), Setaria viridis (green foxtail), Eleusine indica (goosegrass), Avena fatua (wild oat), Echinochloa crus-galli (barnyardgrass), etc.
Broadleaf weeds: Galium aparine (catchweed bedstraw), Myosoton aquaticum (giant chickweed), Capsella bursa-pastoris (shepherd's purse), Veronica polita (grey field-speedwell), Descurainia sophia (flixweed), Chenopodium album (lambsquarters), Chenopodium album (goosefoot), Lithospermum arvense (field gromwell), Xanthium sibiricum (Siberian cocklebur), Portulaca oleracea (common purslane), spike, Convolvulus arvensis (field bindweed), etc.
How should chemical weed control be carried out?
1. Use 150-175 ml of 44% pendimethalin + oxyfluorfen + acetochlor per mu.
2. Use 100 ml of 33% pendimethalin emulsifiable concentrate + 40-50 ml of 24% oxyfluorfen + 50-100 ml of 50% acetochlor per mu.
3. For fields with severe wild oat and shortawn foxtail infestation, add 50-65 ml of Dual Gold (960 g/L S-metolachlor) per mu.
For the above formulations, dilute the per-mu dosage with 30-45 kg of water, spray after garlic sowing and covering with soil, then cover with film. If the soil is dry, spray water after planting garlic, and after the water dries, spray the herbicide and cover with film.
Precautions:
1. Pay attention to soil moisture when spraying. It should be neither dry nor waterlogged. When dry, spray water to create moisture before applying the herbicide; when the soil is wet, let it dry before applying the herbicide. A soil moisture content of 75-80% is suitable.
2. Be sure to mix the herbicide evenly and use sufficient water, spraying evenly and thoroughly.
3. Pay attention to the amount of acetochlor used. An excessive dosage can easily cause phytotoxicity, make garlic bulbs smaller, and affect the following crop.
