How to plant Amaryllidaceae narcissus seeds? Flowering time and uses
Narcissus, also known as Chinese narcissus, is a variety of polyanthus narcissus and has been cultivated in China for more than a thousand years; it is a traditional ornamental flower. So how do you plant its seeds? When does it bloom after planting? What uses does it have? According to Amaryllidaceae information, narcissus is used medicinally as bulbs, collected in spring and autumn, washed free of mud and sand, blanched in boiling water, then sliced and sun-dried or used fresh; it is slightly toxic. It has effects such as clearing heat and detoxifying, dispersing nodules and reducing swelling. It is used for mumps, and for early-stage carbuncles, boils and furuncles with redness, swelling, heat and pain. Moreover, placing narcissus at home can absorb noise given off in the home, absorb exhaust gases given off in the home, and release fresh air, reducing from a physics perspective the excess burden in one more space after another; a comfortable home is a home with good feng shui.
How do you plant narcissus seeds?
1. First, after buying narcissus seeds, wash them clean.
2. Take out the hydroponic holder and put the narcissus in, with the roots at the bottom and the top facing up.
3. Take out a fish tank, fill it with water, and then put the loaded narcissus hydroponic holder on top.
4. After placing it on, check whether the water has reached the roots. If it has not yet reached them, keep adding water; once it reaches the roots, stop adding water. It must not go above the roots. After that, take the hydroponic holder off and put in the colored stones. About that much is fine; do not put in too many.
5. Then you can drip a few drops of nutrient solution in, but do not drip too much or it will not do well. Note that when the water becomes dirty, you must change it; do not wait until it turns completely yellow before changing the water.
When does narcissus bloom?
Narcissus generally blooms around the Spring Festival; at the earliest it blooms in January, and with a long flowering period it can bloom until March.
Note: 1. Narcissus likes cold and fears heat; during the growing period the suitable temperature is preferably lower, with an ideal temperature of 8°C to 12°C, and after flowering it should also be. If the temperature is low after flowering, the flowering period is long; otherwise it is short. If you want to extend the flowering period, you can put the narcissus in the refrigerator for storage.
2. When the room temperature is above 23°C, the flowering period of water-grown narcissus is one week; at 15°C to 20°C, the flowering period is about 10 days; at 8°C to 12°C, the flowering period can be extended to 15 to 20 days. Therefore, as long as there is a certain low-temperature environment, the flowering period of narcissus can be effectively extended.
3. When one or two narcissus buds open, the flower bulb can be taken out of the pot, put in a small plastic bag, and stored in the refrigerator compartment; after several days, take it out and put it back in the flower pot to continue care, and it can bloom normally. Narcissus flower stems (scapes) can also be refrigerated: when the first narcissus flower opens, cut off the scape, insert it in a water cup, and put it in the refrigerator with the temperature kept at 1°C to 3°C; it can be kept for 2 to 3 weeks, and after taking it out and putting it in a vase it can still continue to bloom.
In addition, adding a quarter tablet of aspirin with a content of 0.3 mg to the narcissus pot can also extend the flowering period and delay the wilting of the flowers.
