Price per Jin of Chinese Medicine Gordon Euryale Seeds, Planting Time, and Cultivation Techniques
Gordon euryale, a Chinese medicine name. It is the dried mature seed kernel of the Nymphaeaceae plant Euryale ferox. It is distributed from Heilongjiang to Yunnan, Guangdong and other places. It has the effects of tonifying the kidney and securing essence, strengthening the spleen and stopping diarrhea, and removing dampness and stopping vaginal discharge. So, how much is the seed price of Chinese medicine gordon euryale per jin? When is it planted? What are the cultivation techniques?
I. How much is gordon euryale seed price per jin?
The price of gordon euryale seeds is about 22 to 32 yuan per jin, but prices vary greatly depending on seed quality, variety, place of origin and market. Gordon euryale grows wild in lakes, ponds and swamps across northern and southern China, and is cultivated in the Jiangsu-Zhejiang area. By place of origin, it is divided into southern gordon euryale and northern gordon euryale. Southern gordon euryale is produced in the Taihu Lake area of Jiangsu, with good quality, but its adaptability is inferior to that of northern gordon euryale. Northern gordon euryale is produced in the Hongze Lake area, in a wild or semi-wild state, with poor quality, but strong adaptability.
II. When is gordon euryale planted?
In the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, seeds are rinsed clean in early April and soaked in clear water, with the water depth just enough to submerge the seeds, changing the water frequently, sunning by day and covering at night, maintaining 20 to 25°C during the day and above 16°C at night. After 7 to 10 days, most have sprouted and can be sown.
In mid-to-late June, when the round shield-shaped secondary leaves of the gordon euryale seedlings have reached 25 to 30 cm in diameter, they can be transplanted. Before transplanting, open holes at about 125 to 166 plants per mu; when opening the holes, clear the weeds in the holes and apply an appropriate amount of base fertilizer. After 1 to 2 days, once the muddy water in the holes has cleared, they can be transplanted.
III. What are the cultivation techniques for gordon euryale?
1. Checking seedlings and filling gaps: gordon euryale seedlings generally turn green 7 to 10 days after transplanting. After surviving, at least 1 to 2 checks for gaps should be carried out to ensure a full stand. When checking seedlings, if poorly growing seedlings are seen, check whether their heart leaves have accumulated mud, and if so, it should be removed.
2. Water level management: when transplanting gordon euryale seedlings, the water layer should not be shallower than 30 to 40 cm. After surviving, it can be gradually increased to 50 to 80 cm, and the deepest should not exceed 1.2 to 1.5 m. For gordon euryale grown in shallow rice fields, a water depth of 30 to 50 cm is appropriate.
3. Weeding and earthing up the roots: before the gordon euryale leaves close over the rows, weed the field 3 to 5 times according to weed growth. Weeding can be combined with earthing up the roots, that is, when weeding, gradually push the soil at the edge of the holes toward the center of the holes to earth up the roots. During operation, the plants must not be damaged. Topdressing can be combined with weeding and earthing up.
4. Reasonable topdressing: gordon euryale seedlings generally use deep application of fertilizer balls (before row closure) or foliar spraying (after row closure). Fertilizer balls are made by composting soil and fertilizer. For every 100 kg of fine soil, add 50 kg of decomposed manure, 20 kg of urea, 20 kg of superphosphate and 10 kg of potassium chloride.
5. Sprinkling water to cool down: when growing gordon euryale, in July to August, one should often go into the field in the early morning and sprinkle cool water on the leaf surfaces by hand to lower leaf surface temperature and promote flowering and fruiting. When sprinkling, clear water must be used; muddy water must not be sprinkled on the gordon euryale leaves, so as to avoid affecting photosynthesis and causing leaf rot.
6. Harvesting and processing: gordon euryale can be harvested in the same year. It can be harvested in September to October when the fruit skin turns reddish-brown. If the planting area is small and manpower is sufficient, it can be harvested as it ripens. The harvested fruits are struck with a wooden stick or similar object to crack the spiny fruit skin, and the seeds are taken out and dried in the sun.
