Can Grape Seeds Be Planted? Detailed Guide to Germination Time and Planting Methods
Grape, also known as tizi, putao, caolongzhu, shanhulu, litao, is a relatively common vine fruit in China. Because of its sweet taste and high nutritional value, it is widely cultivated, and its seeds also have the effects of protecting blood vessels and resisting aging, so it is planted in many places. So can grape seeds (pits) be planted? How long until they germinate? How to plant them?
Yes. Like the seeds of other fruit trees, after the fruit ripens, the seeds have not yet completed after-ripening and need to go through a certain low-temperature period to complete natural dormancy before they can emerge normally after sowing. Sowing the leftover grape seeds directly in autumn will not produce seedlings that year; you must wait until the second spring for them to germinate and emerge.
How to plant?
1. Clean the collected grape seeds. After washing them clean with clear water, mix clear water and vinegar at a ratio of 100:1. After stirring evenly, place the washed grape seeds in it and soak for 2 weeks.
2. Prepare a fish tank of moderate size, about 10 inches in diameter, some colored stones, 3 kg of potting soil, and a packet of rooting powder.
3. After washing the small colored stones clean, spread them on the bottom of the fish tank to a thickness of about 3 cm, then spread a 3 cm thick layer of potting soil on top.
4. Place the soaked grape seeds on the surface of the potting soil, then cover with about 2 cm of potting soil, and after that spread a layer of crushed colored stones.
5. After sowing is completed, water the pot once. Do not water too much; it is best when the bottom layer of crushed stones is just submerged.
6. After watering, cover the flower pot with a thin plastic bag, but to achieve breathability, be careful not to tie the plastic bag closed. You can also make a few small holes in the side of the plastic bag to increase air circulation.
Attached: the effects and functions of grape seeds:
1. Eliminate free radicals, resist aging, enhance immunity: protect human organs and tissues, and prevent and treat more than 100 diseases caused by free radicals, such as heart disease, cancer, premature aging, diabetes, and arteriosclerosis.
2. Lower blood lipids: grape seed extract is rich in more than 100 effective substances, among which the unsaturated fatty acid linoleic acid (one that is essential to the human body but cannot be synthesized) accounts for 68-76%, ranking first among oil crops. It consumes 20% cholesterol in going from unsaturated to saturated state, and can effectively lower blood lipids.
3. Protect the skin, beautify and nourish the face: it has the reputation of being a skin vitamin and an oral cosmetic. It protects collagen, improves skin elasticity and luster, whitens, moisturizes, and removes spots; reduces wrinkles and keeps the skin soft, smooth, and glossy; clears acne and heals scars. Known as a skin vitamin, it has both fat-soluble and water-soluble characteristics, and has a super strong whitening and spot-removing effect.
4. Anti-allergy: it penetrates cells to fundamentally inhibit the release of the allergenic factor histamine, and improves cells' tolerance to allergens; clears allergenic free radicals, resists inflammation and allergies; effectively regulates body immunity and thoroughly improves allergic constitution.
5. Protect blood vessels: protect the cardiovascular and cerebrovascular systems, lower cholesterol, prevent arteriosclerosis, and prevent cerebral hemorrhage, stroke, hemiplegia, etc.; maintain moderate capillary permeability, increase blood vessel strength, and reduce capillary fragility; lower blood lipids and blood pressure, inhibit thrombus formation, and reduce the occurrence of fatty liver; prevent edema and blood caused by fragile blood vessel walls.
6. Anti-radiation: effectively prevent and reduce ultraviolet radiation damage to the skin, and inhibit lipid peroxidation triggered by free radicals; reduce the harm caused by radiation from computers, mobile phones, televisions, etc. to the skin and internal organs.
7. Protect the digestive system: protect the gastric mucosa, and prevent and treat gastritis, gastric ulcers, and duodenal ulcers.
8. Protect the eyes: protect the eyes from radiation damage, and prevent and treat red blood streaks; enhance night vision, and reduce retinopathy, etc. Prevent free radicals from oxidizing lens protein, and prevent cataracts and retinitis.
