Detailed Explanation of Key Techniques for High-Yield Cultivation of Summer-Sown Chinese Chives
Chinese chives have good quality and high economic returns, and can be sown in all four seasons. The key techniques for high-yield cultivation of summer-sown Chinese chives are summarized as follows:
1. Variety selection
Choose Xuejiu No. 6 and No. 8, Pingjiu and others, which have good quality, high yield, disease resistance and low-temperature tolerance.
2. Seed soaking and germination
Generally, summer sowing is carried out from May to June each year. 4-5 days before sowing, soak the seeds in warm water at 30-40°C for about 20 hours, then filter out the shriveled seeds and wash off the mucilage. Wrap the seeds in a wet cloth and place them under conditions of about 20°C to germinate, rinsing with clean water 1-2 times a day. When 80% of the seeds have sprouted, they can be sown.
3. Seedbed preparation
While preparing the land, apply 3000 kg of organic fertilizer, 50 kg of compound fertilizer, 3 kg of 3% phoxim and 1 kg of 50% carbendazim wettable powder per mu, turn them deeply into the soil, and harrow until level and fine.
4. Sowing
After watering the seedbed thoroughly, evenly broadcast the germinated seeds on the seedbed and cover with 2 cm of fine soil, then spray with 1000 times dilution of 40% phoxim emulsifiable concentrate, and finally cover with plastic film. Remove the film promptly when 70% of the seedlings emerge.
5. Seedling stage management
After the seedlings emerge evenly, water once every 5-7 days, apply 6-8 kg of urea per mu, and spray with 1000-1500 times dilution of 75% chlorothalonil wettable powder. Control water and fertilizer to harden the seedlings. When they grow to 10-15 cm, they can be transplanted.
6. Transplanting
Before transplanting, apply 3000 kg of organic fertilizer, 50 kg of compound fertilizer, 2 kg of borax and 1 kg of zinc sulfate per mu in the field, turn them deeply into the soil, and after leveling the soil surface, plant about 10 seedlings per hole, with the tillering nodes exposed when planting.
7. Management after planting
After planting, water thoroughly to settle the roots and ensure the survival rate of the seedlings. When the soil becomes compacted, loosen it promptly by hoeing so that the root system can spread and strong seedlings form. When the seedlings grow to about 40 cm, apply 20 kg of compound fertilizer and 8 kg of urea per mu at the appropriate time.
8. Pest and disease control
For outbreaks of gray mold and rust, timely and effective control can be carried out with 1500 times dilution of 50% procymidone wettable powder or 1500 times dilution of 15% triadimefon wettable powder. For Chinese chive thrips, control can be carried out with 1000 times dilution of 40% phoxim emulsifiable concentrate or 2000 times dilution of 5% pyrethrin emulsifiable concentrate.
