It is now loquat season, and many people throw away the seeds inside after eating loquats. So many friends are curious: can the seeds inside loquats be planted? In fact, we can use the seeds inside the loquat fruit to cultivate a small loquat tree.
How do you plant loquat seeds?
1. After eating loquats, collect the seeds and air-dry them. Do not expose them to the sun. After air-drying, peel off the outer skin as much as possible.
2. Loquats do not have high soil requirements and can grow in ordinary soil. But place a few pieces of broken tile at the bottom of the pot, spread a layer of coarse sand, then fill in some nutrient soil, and put the loquat seeds in the pot. Then cover with soil, about 5mm thick, just enough to cover the seeds. After covering with soil, water appropriately.
3. Then place the flowerpot under tree shade. With sunlight and water, seedlings should emerge in about 2 weeks.
4. Because loquat seedlings are thick and strong with relatively large leaves, they have higher requirements for pot size. Generally speaking, in the early stage, use a slightly smaller-mouthed purple clay pot to first control the growth of the loquat. After repotting the loquat 2 times, it can be moved into a small jar with a mouth about 10 cm in diameter.
5. During the growth process, loquats need proper pruning and fertilizing. When pruning loquats, keep the trunk at a height of 20-30 cm, cut off dead branches, weak branches, and densely growing branches, and improve the light transmission and ventilation conditions of the entire plant. For some parts with few branches and bare areas, short pruning can be carried out. Young loquat trees should be fertilized once every 60 days, mainly with organic fertilizer, while adult fruiting trees should be fertilized 4 times a year.
