How to propagate the green treasure tree (Radermachera sinica) by cuttings? Detailed methods and steps

Because its trunk has particularly straight grain, and the tree's structure is extremely even and well-proportioned, it is very popular among people. This plant is an excellent material for making furniture, so some merchants want to cultivate this tree in large quantities. Generally speaking, this plant is propagated through cuttings, so how should the cuttings be taken?

1. Prepare the seedbed:

This plant likes loose soil with good drainage and irrigation capacity, so in limestone karst mountainous areas, this plant grows very well. If we want to cultivate saplings, we can prepare a seedbed, using fine-grained leaf mold and large-grained river sand mixed at a ratio of half each as the substrate.

2. Time:

In spring, this season full of vitality, that is, in March to April, we can take cuttings.

3. Temperature:

It is worth noting that in order for the branches to survive and take root quickly, cuttings can only be started when the surrounding ambient temperature is above 15°C.

4. Cutting:

From a healthy and robust large tree, select some branches that have already grown for 1 to 2 years and have already become woody, cut the branches into lengths of 15 to 20 cm, then use a small knife to gently scrape off all the leaves on the branches. The cut at the lower end should be 0.5 cm from the node.

5. Inserting into soil:

Insert the branch into the already prepared seedbed, with the depth inserted into the soil reaching one-third or one-half of the branch length, pull the surrounding soil over to surround the branch, then press down on the soil layer.

6. Water:

When the branch's wound is healing and rooting, spray water on the soil to keep the soil moist.

7. Transplanting:

After its roots have fully grown out, it can be transplanted together with the soil into a pot, preferably transplanting 2 or 3 plants together.
