How to propagate the Radermachera sinica? A detailed explanation of common propagation methods

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
This plant is prized for its graceful tree shape, its very long flowering period, and its large blooms that also give off a delicate fragrance. Nearly every branch bears an inflorescence, and when the flowers open at the same time they form a long golden band of blossoms, a sight that delights the eye and gladdens the heart, making it an excellent landscape plant. Flower growers cultivate this tree as a way to make a profit, so how exactly should this plant be propagated?

1. Sowing:

1. At the end of December, when the fruit has split open and the seeds are mature, we can collect the long strip-shaped fruit. Dry the fruit, then extract the winged seeds from inside, rub them with your hands to remove the membranous wing fragments, store the remaining seeds in a dry place, and by the following spring they can be sown.

2. Before sowing, first soak them in water for 2 to 3 hours, then mix them with moist sand, and spread the mixture thinly in a large pot inside a shed. Keep the seeds and sand moist, and during this process also prevent mold. Once they have sprouted, they can be planted in the ground.

3. Stored seeds can also be soaked in water for 3 to 4 hours in March to April, then dried slightly, mixed with moist sand and placed on the seedbed, covered with a thin layer of soil, and then covered with plastic film to retain moisture. Once the sprouts emerge, the film can be removed, and then a shed can be built for shade.

2. Cuttings:

1. In March to April, when the average temperature is above 15 degrees, cut some woody branches that have grown for 1 to 2 years, cut them into 15 to 20 cm lengths, and remove some of the leaves.

2. Insert the branches into the seedbed, inserting one third to one half of the branch.
