Pesticides refer to chemical agents used in agriculture to control diseases and pests and to regulate plant growth. Improper use of pesticides not only fails to help production, but may also kill crops and harm human health. Below is an introduction to the precautions for using several common pesticides such as dichlorvos, trichlorfon and buprofezin! Farmers would be wise to read carefully.

1. Omethoate: Hops, Asteraceae plants, some varieties of sorghum, as well as tobacco, jujube trees, peach, plum, apricot, plum, olive, fig, citrus and other crops are sensitive to omethoate emulsifiable concentrate diluted at less than 1500 times with water. When using it, conduct a test first to determine the appropriate concentration. Omethoate is prohibited for use on fruit trees.

2. Trichlorfon: It is particularly sensitive to corn, apple, sorghum and legumes, and easily causes phytotoxicity. It is prohibited on peach trees.

3. Dichlorvos: It is relatively sensitive to sorghum, legumes, Chinese rose, corn, melon seedlings and rubber, so it should be used with caution. It very easily causes phytotoxicity to stone fruit trees and should be prohibited. (For example, spraying dichlorvos, trichlorfon, dimethoate, etc. on peach trees before the pit-hardening stage can easily cause fruit drop.)

4. Buprofezin: The solution should not come into direct contact with Chinese cabbage or radish, otherwise brown spots and whitening of green leaves will occur.

5. Chlorpyrifos: It causes phytotoxicity to melon seedlings and should be used after the melon vine is longer than 1 m; it is sensitive to tobacco.

6. Methidathion: Avoid use during the flowering period to prevent phytotoxicity. Arbitrarily increasing the concentration will cause brown leaf spots. In June-July, when the temperature exceeds 30°C, use at 800-1000 times dilution; young fruit very easily suffers phytotoxicity.

7. Phoxim: It is sensitive to cucumber, legumes, taro, sugar beet, rice, corn, etc., and easily causes phytotoxicity.

8. Dicofol and tetradifon: They are sensitive to certain apples and pears, and the problem is more severe in low temperatures and humid weather. Dicofol is prohibited for use on tea and fruit.

9. Cyhexatin: Citrus is prone to phytotoxicity.

10. Azocyclotin: Spraying azocyclotin at 1500 times dilution in August-September will increase the occurrence of citrus fruit sunburn.

11. Machine oil emulsion: Spraying machine oil emulsion at 150 times plus 40% isocarbophos at 1200-1500 times during the bud burst and flowering periods causes phytotoxicity. After spraying machine oil emulsion, wait 10-15 days before spraying lime sulfur mixture or Bordeaux mixture; within 1 week after spraying pine-tar-alkali mixture, organophosphorus pesticides must not be used, and within 20 days lime sulfur mixture must not be sprayed.

12. Fenvalerate: Using this pesticide more than 2 times in citrus orchards can induce mite outbreaks.

13. Isoprocarb (MIPC): It causes phytotoxicity to tuber crops.

14. Bisultap: It easily causes phytotoxicity to seedlings of cruciferous vegetables such as Chinese cabbage and cabbage, as well as to crops such as citrus. Spraying citrus at 300 times dilution in summer will cause leaves and fruit to turn yellow.

15. Monosultap: It causes phytotoxicity to cotton and legumes.

16. Chlorfluazuron: It is sensitive to Chinese cabbage seedlings.

17. Hinosan: Mixing with nereistoxin insecticides is not recommended, because nereistoxin insecticides are accelerated in degrading into highly toxic nereistoxin.

18. Kasugamycin: It causes slight phytotoxicity to soybean and lotus root; pay attention when using it near soybean and lotus root fields.
