Causes of spots on lucky bamboo leaves and solutions
I. Causes:
The cause of this phenomenon is very likely infection by pathogenic bacteria. This disease is usually transmitted through wounds, and it becomes more severe in humid environments. In the Guangdong region, May to September is when the disease occurs most frequently, because the climate temperature is relatively high during this period, and the humidity in the air is also very high, and in summer there are also typhoons and showers that cause wounds, which then allow this disease to spread rapidly.
II. Signs:
At the very beginning, this disease shows up as brown spots and causes the leaf edges to be yellow. After infection by the pathogen, its spots become nearly round, the middle of the leaf appears gray, and the leaf edges are dark brown. If the environment is too humid, the diseased spots on its leaves will also grow black granular matter.
III. Prevention and control:
1. If you are growing several bamboo stems and their leaves are relatively dense, it is best to grow them separately rather than too close together. Place them in a well-ventilated spot that also has fairly bright indirect light.
2. In the early stage of the disease, you can choose to use a 3000-fold dilution of 42 percent Kejunjing powder, or a 1000-fold dilution of 88 percent hologomycin, or an 800-fold dilution of 25 percent copper-ammonia complex. Spray these solutions on the diseased leaves once every week, two to three times is enough.
3. If it is already very severe, then cut off the leaves that have already been infected by the pathogen.
