The biggest advantage of fruit bagging is improving appearance quality and reducing pesticide residue, and it is a necessary supporting measure for the development of our fruit industry. So when is the best time to bag pears? How to bag them? How to choose fruit bags?

When is the best time to bag pears?

Bagging pears can significantly improve the appearance quality of the fruit, prevent pests and diseases, reduce pesticide pollution residue, improve fruit flavor, and enhance fruit quality. At the same time, it can also meet the market demand for high-grade fruit. Bagging cultivation has become an important technique for producing high-quality, high-grade fruit at present.

1. Pear bagging time. 20-40 days after petal fall, the bagging time should be when the fruit transverse diameter is within 20mm and fruit dots have not yet appeared or have rarely appeared. Before bagging, fruit should be carefully thinned according to the load requirement. Bag immediately after thinning is finished, and finish within about 10 days. If too early or too late, the ideal effect cannot be achieved.

2. Insecticide and fungicide before pear bagging. After pear trees finish flowering, in combination with bagging, 1-2 sprays of mixed insecticide and fungicide must be applied, focusing on spraying the fruit surface to kill fungi and insects on the fruit surface. The targets are mainly pear brown spot, black spot, ring rot, pear gall midge, pear yellow aphid, pear psylla, etc. The agents may use triadimefon plus fungicide plus insecticide.

How to bag pears?

1. When bagging pears, fruit must be strictly selected. Choose strong fruit, large fruit, and side fruit with long fruit shape and tightly closed calyx for bagging. Remove diseased, insect-damaged, weak fruit, branch fruit, and inferior fruit. Each bag should contain only 1 fruit, 1 fruit per bag; do not put double fruit in 1 bag.

2. Pear bagging order and requirements. First the upper part of the tree, then the lower part; otherwise, fruit is easily knocked off. Distribution should be even across upper, lower, left, right, inner, and outer parts.

3. Pear bagging operation method. Use a 20cm×15cm composite paper bag with gray outside and black inside. Do not use paper bags made by pasting paper, because newspaper bags contain too much lead and increase contamination of the fruit. First put your hand into the bag to make the whole bag puff up, then grasp the fruit stalk with one hand and support the bag bottom with the other, put the young fruit into the middle of the bag opening, then fold the bag opening from both sides toward the middle fruit stalk; after all the bag opening is folded to the fruit stalk, tear downward from the left edge of the bag opening to the length of the wire clasp at the bag opening, and finally turn the wire clasp 90 degrees and bend and tie it tightly around the fruit stalk. Be careful not to tie it onto the fruit spur branch, and do not tie it too forcefully, so as to prevent the clasp from damaging the fruit stalk and affecting growth. After bagging, use your hand to push up the middle of the bag bottom so that the whole bag puffs up. The young fruit hangs suspended in the bag and does not stick to the bag wall, which can prevent stink bugs from piercing the fruit and prevent liquid medicine and secretions from fungi and insects from contaminating the fruit, causing rust and mold.

4. Precautions after pear bagging. Bagging cultivation of pear trees cannot be separated from good fertilizer management and pest and disease control. After the bagging work of pear orchard fruit is completed, apply fruit swelling fertilizer in good time, mainly organic fertilizer.

Do a good job in the prevention of pear ring rot and the control of pear lace bug. Suitable pesticide application period: early June. Control agents: ① 80% Daconil 500 times liquid + Leidian Sha 1000 times liquid + 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate; ② 25% metalaxyl 1000 times liquid + 65% zineb 500 times liquid + conventional piercing-sucking mouthpart insecticide. In orchards with severe pear rust, add 15% triadimefon 1000 times liquid to the above formula.

How to choose pear fruit bags?

1. Choose a large-scale, trustworthy paper bag manufacturer, and it should have a registered trademark.

2. Pay attention to the quality of the paper bag. The paper should be soft and breathable, wind-resistant and rain-resistant, with a well-glued bag bottom, firm tying wire, fine workmanship, and relatively good water resistance, shading, and waxiness, with evenly waxed fruit bags.

3. Pay attention to the specifications of the paper bag; too large or too small are both unsuitable. The size and type of fruit bag should be determined according to the variety. Bag specifications are usually 160*198mm, 170*210mm, 180*220mm. There is a semicircular notch in the middle of the bag opening to make it easier to open the paper bag. There are vent holes on both sides of the bottom of the bag opening to allow rainwater to flow out, so as to avoid water accumulation in the bag.

4. Do not make fruit bags yourself from newspaper; they cannot withstand wind and rain and are almost ineffective; the printing ink in newspaper contains lead, which will also contaminate the fruit. At the same time, waste bags used in the previous year must not be reused, because the wax effect has already failed.
