Cilantro costs 30 yuan per jin: when should you fertilize it, what fertilizer makes it grow fast, and how many jin per mu should be applied?

Recently, due to the impact of the Shouguang flood disaster in Shandong, vegetable prices in many places have risen rapidly. Cilantro in particular is already selling for 30 yuan/kg at the Hongqi Agricultural Trade Wholesale Market in Xiqing District, Tianjin. Such a high price has made cilantro unaffordable for farmers, and many people have begun to grow cilantro one after another. However, to grow cilantro well, all kinds of management work need to be done properly. So when is the best time to fertilize cilantro? What fertilizer makes it grow fast? About how many jin of fertilizer are applied per mu?

1. What fertilizer makes cilantro grow fast?

Cilantro, also called coriander, requires 16 essential nutrient elements for its growth and development. The plant is short, the growing period is short, the root system is relatively shallow in the soil, and the number of plants per unit area is relatively large. It needs fertile and moist soil and a sufficient supply of fertilizer and water.

Cilantro likes cool climatic conditions and has a high demand for potassium, followed by nitrogen, and the least for phosphorus. However, the entire growing period requires a sufficient supply of nitrogen. When nitrogen is insufficient, the plant is short and the leaves turn yellow. Cilantro needs little fertilizer in the early growth stage, and as the plant grows, the fertilizer requirement increases accordingly.

2. About how many jin of fertilizer are applied per mu of cilantro?

1. Base fertilizer for cilantro

After the previous crop is harvested, clear away the residue and apply 4000-6000 kg of fully decomposed high-quality organic fertilizer and 40-60 kg of compound fertilizer per mu. After spreading evenly, plow 20 cm deep, prepare the land and make beds, and sow.

2. Topdressing for cilantro

1. Spring-sown cilantro is generally topdressed 3 times during the entire growing period. The first time, when the cilantro seedlings are 6-7 cm high, after thinning, combined with watering, apply 4-5 kg of compound fertilizer or 4-6 kg of urea per mu with the water; the second topdressing, when the cilantro seedlings are 8-9 cm high, combined with watering, apply 6-10 kg of compound fertilizer or 7-11 kg of urea per mu with the water; the third time, when the cilantro plants are 12-14 cm high, apply 10-14 kg of compound fertilizer or 10-15 kg of urea with the water.

2. Summer-sown cilantro has a relatively short growing period and is generally topdressed 2 times. The first time, when the seedlings are 4-5 cm high, after thinning and combined with watering, apply 5-6 kg of compound fertilizer or 5-8 kg of urea per mu with the water; when the cilantro seedlings are 7-8 cm high, apply the second topdressing, with 10-13 kg of compound fertilizer or 10-15 kg of urea per mu with the water.

3. Autumn-sown cilantro is generally topdressed 3 times. When the cilantro seedlings are 6-7 cm high, combined with watering, apply 10-13 kg of compound fertilizer or 10-15 kg of urea and 1000-1500 kg of decomposed human manure and urine per mu with the water; when the cilantro plants are 9-11 cm high, cilantro enters the vigorous growth period, and combined with watering, apply 15-18 kg of compound fertilizer or 15-20 kg of urea, 25-30 kg of ammonium sulfate, 500-800 kg of decomposed human manure and urine, and 15-20 kg of ammonium nitrate per mu with the water.

4. For overwintering cilantro, when it has 5-6 leaves, apply 15-20 kg of 45% nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer with the water; before freezing, apply 1000-1500 kg of decomposed human manure and urine with the water; in the following spring, combined with watering to promote greening, apply 10-15 kg of compound fertilizer or 10-16 kg of urea or 20-30 kg of ammonium sulfate with the water.
