Mint is a plant of the genus Mentha in the Lamiaceae family. It is one of the commonly used traditional Chinese medicines; it can be applied externally to treat conditions such as skin rashes, and taken internally to treat conditions such as headaches. The flower language of mint is “eternal love, virtue, and the virtuous”. Below we introduce mint growing tips: how to make potted mint fill the pot!

1. Keep plenty of light

To grow mint until it fills the pot, light is indispensable; only with plenty of light will it fill the pot. So place the potted mint in a spot with plenty of light, and in summer it also needs plenty of light. Note that with insufficient light, mint will become leggy.

2. Keep plenty of water

Mint is generally grown in soil, but some people choose water culture, because mint needs plenty of water.

When growing mint, be sure to keep plenty of water and do not go a long time without watering. If it lacks water, water it promptly and it can still recover.

3. Loose, fertile soil

Loose, fertile soil is very important for mint, because only then will the plant have the drive to grow. If the pot is small, or there is little soil, the plant will grow slowly and it will be relatively hard for it to fill the pot.

When growing mint, be sure to note that the soil should be a bit fertile; you can add some base fertilizer to maintain fertility.

4. Prune regularly

Many plants cannot fill the pot without pruning. When pruning, mainly cut off some leaves; the more you prune, the more lushly it grows, looking full. If there are flowering branches, it is best to cut them all off, otherwise the leaves will stop growing.

5. Repot regularly

When growing mint, repot it regularly so it will grow lushly. Generally, repot once every year, and when repotting, change to a slightly larger flower pot.
