Black beans are a healthy food ingredient, generally used more often when making porridge, and they are fairly rich in nutritional value. There is a record of this in Li Shizhen's "Compendium of Materia Medica". Black bean sprouts, as the name suggests, are the sprouts that grow when black beans germinate, somewhat similar to the mung bean sprouts and soybean sprouts we eat, but with a better taste. So what are the benefits and effects of black bean sprouts? How do you cook them to make them delicious? What is the growing method?

2. Benefits and effects of black bean sprouts

Black bean sprouts are a cooling food, with a very good texture and flavor, and they also have certain benefits and effects. Eating black bean sprouts can clear heat and detoxify, promote urination, protect the liver, improve eyesight, and whiten the skin. At the same time, black bean sprouts are very low in calories, making them a good choice as a weight-loss food.

II. How Do You Cook Black Bean Sprouts to Make Them Delicious?

1. Stir-fried black bean sprouts

Stir-fried black bean sprouts are a fairly simple dish; a plate of them any day is simple, nutritious and quick.

Method: Wash the black bean sprouts, put oil in the pan (lard is more fragrant), stir-fry over high heat for three minutes, then add the seasonings, and finally add salt and chicken bouillon, and it is ready to serve once out of the pan. Those who like chili peppers can also add one chopped red chili or chopped chili, for yet another flavor.

2. Cold-dressed black bean sprouts

If black bean sprouts are served cold, they are better as an appetizer, tasting fresh, refreshing and crisp, and they can stimulate the appetite.

Method: First wash the black bean sprouts, then put them into boiling water (with an appropriate amount of salt added) and blanch them until cooked, about three minutes is enough. After removing them, quickly place them in prepared cold water; this not only keeps the original color of the black bean sprouts but makes them crisper to eat. Once everything is prepared, drain the water, and then add the seasonings and start mixing. The seasonings basically used are light soy sauce, sesame oil, aged vinegar, and sugar. If you like peanuts, be sure to add peanuts for a better flavor.

III. How to Grow Black Bean Sprouts

1. After washing the black beans clean, soak them in water; when the beans swell up, that means they are soaked.

2. Prepare a water basin and a plastic basket, drill small holes in the bottom, spread the beans evenly in the basket; they must not be stacked, and at this point water them once. After there is a layer of standing water in the bottom of the basin, cover them with a towel, and from then on just spray water on the towel. Remember two things: first, put them in a dark place; second, keep the basin moist.

3. Wait until the black beans sprout (about three days or so), and change the water for the black beans every day to prevent the black beans from rotting and smelling bad. In about five days the black bean sprouts can grow to the top of the basin. If you want to eat them, they can only be harvested after growing to a height of about 10cm.

Summary: The method for growing black bean sprouts is not complicated, and the black bean sprouts grown this way taste better than soybean sprouts, and eating them yourself is fresh and healthy. During the care of the bean sprouts, if the temperature is too low, you can put the basin next to a heating stove to prevent them from freezing; if it is high temperature in summer, also shade them appropriately to prevent them from wilting in the sun.
