Bowl lotus is a relatively small variety of lotus. Because of its compact form, it is easy to grow at home, and many people choose to grow such a potted plant as an ornamental plant in their homes. So how do you plant bowl lotus in mud?

1. Seed treatment

First, put the seeds prepared for raising seedlings in water above 10 degrees for about 10 days, and slowly they will grow leaf buds. We can observe them every day, and when they have grown two leaf buds and developed a core, they can be planted in mud.

2. Pot and soil preparation

Because at this time its leaf buds are still relatively small, we do not need to find too large a container to hold it. You can first use a smaller one, and when it grows larger, switch to a container relatively suitable for it. You can use a disposable teacup or a disposable food bowl or the like, but the container must have a light-blocking effect, because the roots of this plant are very sensitive to light and cannot be exposed to light. As for the soil, the requirements are not high; you can choose garden soil or even soil from a community flower bed. There is no need to insist on using fertile pond mud; if the soil is too fertile, it will instead burn the roots.

3. Planting in mud

First put the soil into the prepared container, piling it to about 3 to 4 cm thick. Then we can use a finger to press a small hole in the middle of the soil, place the plant's roots in the small hole, and then cover the plant's roots with the surrounding soil.

4. Water

After fixing the plant, you can pour water into it. Do not add too much water; about 2 to 3 cm above the mud layer is enough. This method can keep it warm and allow the plant to grow faster.

5. Light

After replenishing the water, place it under the sun. After shining on it, it will soon produce many fibrous roots and also quickly grow leaves.

In the later care and management process, the potted bowl lotus must likewise not be allowed to lack water, otherwise the plant is prone to scorched leaf edges and yellowing and withering. After all, the leaves of the bowl lotus are very large, and to support such large leaves in staying evergreen while ensuring smooth blooming, the plant often needs to consume a large amount of water. Therefore, timely watering is crucial for maintaining normal growth of potted bowl lotus.

However, when growing it as a home ornamental potted plant, in order to maintain the pot's aesthetics, after planting the bowl lotus, you can cover the pot surface with a layer of small stones, which helps keep the water quality clear enough to see the bottom. At the same time, you also need to promptly remove water moss and algae plants to keep the water surface in the pot clean, while also avoiding the breeding of various pathogens that harm the plant.
