What are the methods for planting rose seedlings? Pay attention to three points and the survival rate of cuttings doubles
Roses are beautiful and easy to keep alive, and beautiful flowers can lift your mood. So, what planting methods are there for rose seedlings? What should you pay attention to when taking rose cuttings? Let's find out together.
1. Planting methods for rose seedlings
1. Prepare the pot and soil
Choosing a good pot and soil can greatly increase the success rate of planting rose seedlings. It is better to use a flower pot with good permeability, a suitable size and a drainage hole at the bottom. It is better to use flower soil with good air permeability, that does not easily become waterlogged and that contains more nutrients. Specifically, you can choose a clay pot with a diameter of about 20cm and flower soil made by mixing leaf mold and river sand. If you do not like the appearance of a clay pot, you can also switch to a terracotta pot.
2. Choose the seedlings
For beginners who have just started planting, it is recommended to choose larger seedlings, because planting with this kind of seedling has a relatively high success rate. For experienced growers, choosing either large or small seedlings is fine.
3. Planting method
① Treat the pot and soil: disinfect the prepared pot and soil separately, then pour the soil into the pot and smooth its surface. Then dig a small hole in it, about the same size as the roots of the seedling.
② Plant it: insert the selected seedling into the hole just dug, then fill the hole with the flower soil nearby. After that, water it thoroughly once and place it in a place without strong light.
③ Later care: generally speaking, as long as you water it regularly in the following days and do not let it lack water, it will easily survive. However, if its leaves all become wilted, you need to put a small bag over it to keep it warm and moist.
2. Precautions for cuttings
1. Water
Because after a rose cutting is cut off, it can no longer obtain water replenishment from the mother plant, so it must be given sufficient water to prevent wilting. Generally, a regular and fixed amount of water supply and facilities such as a simple greenhouse are needed to carry out commercial production. When controlling water, pay attention to the humidity in the medium and the humidity in the air, following the principle of maintaining a thin layer of moisture on the leaf surface without making it wet.
2. Pests
Disease invasion should be avoided in the cutting medium, pot soil or cutting environment. Diseases such as black mold and branch blight are very likely to occur during cutting, so the appropriate use of fungicides is very necessary.
3. Humidity
Normally, some water vapor will condense into water droplets in the bottle and hang inside it. If the inside of the bottle is too dry, you can spray a little water at the mud opening, which will increase the humidity inside the bottle and raise the rooting rate.
