1. Causes

Actually, many people do not know that this phenomenon has its own conditions for occurring, and it also requires the surrounding environment to be relatively good. In the case of young Monstera plants, the roots at the base are relatively small, which makes their growth vigor not high. At the beginning of its seedling stage, the entire leaf is intact, but as it grows up, the leaves also begin to increase, and when the temperature and light conditions are suitable for its growth, the leaves will slowly become carved in appearance. After it has grown for half a year or even a year, holes will appear in the leaves.

In addition, apart from very small plants, even plants that have grown for many years will produce newly grown leaves with obvious holes after pruning. So we know that the reason it does not develop splits is that the light and temperature are not the conditions it needs, and watering is also done poorly, so the plant does not get the nutrients it deserves.

2. Solutions

In summer, when the temperature is especially high, or in early autumn when the temperature is relatively not low, we should keep it away from too much sun and place it in a cool, ventilated environment, and if the light conditions are relatively soft, we should let it be exposed to sunlight, so that it will not grow poorly because of insufficient or excessive light and can develop splits normally.

At the same time, when it needs to grow, we should provide the moisture it needs, and we should note that at this time its demand for water is relatively high. So normally we should keep the soil in the pot somewhat moist, and also sprinkle some water on the leaves, or spray water on the ground to raise the humidity; of course, this can also help lower the temperature, and at the same time it can make the plant grow even better.

Fertilizing is also necessary. We can apply a top dressing once within one week or two weeks, mainly using nitrogen fertilizer. Because these points are relatively important, if you follow the above points, its development of splits will be a very natural process.
