Detailed Guide to Growing and Caring for Arundina graminifolia
1. Water
1. During this plant's peak growing season, you must supply enough water. If it lacks water, its growth will slow and it will develop poorly. Watering must be thorough; never water only halfway, otherwise they will be unable to grow normally.
2. The frequency of watering is generally determined by the soil conditions of the plant being grown. If you are growing it in harder, more freely draining substrates such as volcanic rock or floating stone, you can water once a day; if you are growing it in a substrate with stronger water absorption such as pond mud, water once every two or three days.
3. So roughly when should you water? Generally, choose morning or evening; do not water at noon.
2. Fertiliser
1. We generally choose farmyard manure, but this kind of fertiliser must be piled up for more than one year and already fully rotted before it can be used. You can mix this fertiliser with 10 to 20 times its volume of water as a liquid feed and pour it onto the substrate; when pouring, keep it as close to the edge of the pot as possible, do not let the fertiliser come into direct contact with the plant's roots, and do not let it touch its leaves.
2. When fertilising, pay attention to the balance of the various elements and strictly control the concentration of the fertiliser solution. If you want to enjoy the foliage, you should control chlorophyll synthesis: do not apply nitrogen fertiliser, and do not apply fertiliser solutions containing manganese and magnesium. If you want larger flowers, you can appropriately increase nitrogen fertiliser.
3. You can also feed only through the leaves. Spraying fertiliser on the leaves lets the plant absorb nutrients through its foliage without harming the roots, and for this plant it is a very good fertilising method. During its growth and development period, spray its leaves with fertiliser roughly once every ten days; this is entirely enough to grow a beautiful, good-looking plant.
4. Apply fertiliser in small amounts and often.
