How to grow Sedum acre 'Aureum' (golden creeping sedum)? Growing methods and precautions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
This is a plant that tolerates drought fairly well. Its flowers are golden yellow, and even its leaves are golden yellow too, making it very attractive. If you want to grow it well, take a look at the methods for growing it.

1. Soil

This plant is very robust by nature. Whether in poor soil or sticky sandy soil, it can grow healthily with ease. It is fair to say that it is not at all demanding about soil. If you are growing it, you can choose a relatively small flower pot; this plant looks very nice when grown as a potted specimen. For the soil in the pot, you can mix ordinary garden soil with a small amount of river sand.

2. Temperature

This plant can withstand cold to a slight degree. As long as the surrounding temperature in the cold winter does not drop below 10 degrees, ordinary temperatures pose no problem for it. And even under the scorching heat of summer, the burning sun cannot make it wilt; on the contrary, the hotter the weather, the more vigorously it grows, and its branches and leaves become more and more compact.

So in winter, if the temperature falls below 10 degrees, you can place it indoors, facing the sun so it receives light. During this period, the soil in the pot should be neither wet nor dry, otherwise it is very prone to cold damage. As long as it gets through the winter, it will be full of life again the following spring.

3. Water

Generally, when the temperature starts to warm up in spring, it begins to sprout. During this period, it must receive a sufficient amount of water, and the potting soil must be kept moist at all times. Usually by April to May, we can let the soil dry out slightly, because it is by nature a plant accustomed to not having too much moisture. If we water it too much, it will instead affect its growth.

4. Fertiliser

Generally, during its period of vigorous growth, it is best to give it a dose of already decomposed manure once a month. This practice allows it to grow healthily, and when it blooms in May and June, its branches and leaves will be even more lush. In this way, its ornamental value will be greatly increased.

5. Precautions

(1) In winter, pay attention to keeping the plant warm.

(2) Control the amount of water added.
