How to Prevent and Control Spinach Fusarium Wilt? A Complete Guide to Practical Techniques
Spinach has high nutritional value and is widely loved, but during the growth of spinach, spinach Fusarium wilt can cause fatal damage to the crop. Today the editor shares with you methods for preventing and controlling spinach Fusarium wilt.
I. Characteristics of spinach Fusarium wilt
Spinach Fusarium wilt generally occurs more severely during the mature plant stage. It manifests as old leaves turning dark and losing their luster, leaf mesophyll gradually yellowing, and roots gradually turning brown and dying. Plants affected early are noticeably stunted. When the weather is dry and temperatures are high, diseased plants rapidly wilt and turn yellow. Under humid, low-temperature conditions, diseased plants can continue to survive for some time and sometimes grow new lateral roots, but they will quickly die once high-temperature weather occurs.
The spinach Fusarium wilt pathogen mainly overwinters or oversummers in the soil or on seeds along with diseased plant residues. Seeds can carry the pathogen, and undecomposed manure can also carry it. The pathogen can spread with rainwater and irrigation water, directly invading through root wounds or root tips. High temperature and high humidity favor disease development; it is prone to occur when soil temperature is around 30°C, the soil is moist, manure is not fully decomposed, and there are many underground pests and nematodes.
II. Prevention and control techniques for spinach Fusarium wilt
1. Avoid continuous cropping;
2. Apply fully decomposed organic fertilizer and adopt balanced fertilization techniques to improve plant disease resistance;
3. Use high beds or ridge cultivation, drain promptly after rain, and strictly prohibit flood irrigation;
4. When central diseased plants are found, pull them out promptly, and spray the diseased holes and surrounding areas with 50% carbendazim wettable powder at 800 times dilution, or 10% zhiweiling aqueous solution at 300-400 times dilution, spraying once every 15 days for 2-3 consecutive applications.
