As people's living standards improve, more and more families are growing potted plants now. Flower enthusiasts get together and have endless topics to talk about. They share all kinds of potted plant growing experience. Many flower enthusiasts have grown bowl lotus. What are the methods for growing bowl lotus?
1. Prepare the growing container
You cannot choose too small a container for growing bowl lotus; too small a container will affect the growth of the bowl lotus. A container with a diameter of 30 cm and a depth of 20 cm is sufficient. It is recommended to plant one or two bowl lotus in one container. Planting too many will also affect the growth of the bowl lotus.
2. Seed selection and treatment
Bowl lotus has many varieties, and the flowering periods of different varieties are still different. Some bloom early and some bloom late. Bowl lotus seeds from the current year generally bloom in the same year they are planted. If you plant bowl lotus from previous years, then it may only grow leaves and not bloom. So when buying bowl lotus seeds, be sure to pay attention to this point.
After choosing good quality, a very important point is treating the seeds. The seed shell of the bowl lotus is hard and dense, so it is very necessary to break the shell of the seeds. When treating them, also be careful not to damage the embryo. Just make a small opening at the concave end of the seed.
3. Soaking seeds to promote germination
Put the seeds in warm water to soak. The water must be clean and the temperature must be well controlled. Water at 20 to 30 degrees is best. During the germination stage, the water needs to be changed two or three times a day. In a normal growing environment, bowl lotus sprouts in three days, and in five days a sprout about 1 cm long will grow out. After sprouting, you must not peel off the entire shell right away. Peeling off at most about half is enough. This makes it easier for the tender sprout to grow out.
4. Transplanting the sprouts
1. Hydroponic seedling raising
After the bowl lotus sprouts, 25 degrees is best for growing in water. With a water depth of 10 cm and sufficient light, the bowl lotus is different from other hydroponic plants. Bowl lotus does not need its water changed that frequently.
2. Putting seedlings into mud
Bowl lotus is different from ordinary potted plants; when choosing a container, the bottom must have no holes. Soak the soil two weeks in advance. It is best to choose pond mud. Put the bowl lotus seeds into the pond mud and place them in a sunny spot. A spot with good light is good for the growth of the bowl lotus. But the light also cannot be too strong. Do not water too much. The water temperature cannot be too high. When watering, you also cannot just pour it all at once. Water slowly along the wall of the container.
Warm reminder: bowl lotus is not suitable for too much fertilizing; the base fertilizer can be a bit more ample. But also note that you cannot choose soil with too much fertility. Many people choose yellow mud. For bowl lotus, it is exactly the right soil. Bowl lotus is a plant that likes water, but if you give it too much water, the roots will rot. Only with suitable light can the bowl lotus grow quickly. Finally, regarding the growing season for bowl lotus, although it can be planted in all four seasons, it is still best not to plant it in winter. Too cold weather means weak photosynthesis, which is not good for the growth of the bowl lotus. It also easily causes frost damage to the bowl lotus.
