I wonder if you all know this plant, sea buckthorn? It is a plant with very vigorous vitality. It is very suitable for lazy people to grow. So now let the editor tell you about it. What is sea buckthorn? How to grow sea buckthorn? Let's take a look~

1. What is sea buckthorn

Sea buckthorn, of the genus Hippophae in the family Elaeagnaceae, also known as sour willow and sour thorn, has fruit rich in multiple vitamins, multiple trace elements, multiple amino acids and other bioactive substances, and is a fruit used both as food and as medicine. It is produced in Muli, Dechang and Mianning in Liangshan Prefecture. In Muli it commonly grows wild in gullies, valleys, both banks of rivers, high mountain canyons, river valley terraces, river floodplains and roadsides in areas at an altitude of 3000-3500 m. It has very strong adaptability. Although it is a light-loving plant, it tolerates a certain degree of shade. It tolerates high temperatures and is also cold-resistant. It is not afraid of pests and diseases. It has a certain resistance to waterlogging and tolerance to salinity and alkalinity. It is not afraid of wind erosion and tolerates sand burial. It is not demanding about soil, has a well-developed root system, strong root-sprouting ability, and has root nodules.

2. Planting methods for sea buckthorn

1. Planting time.

Sea buckthorn can be sown in spring or planted in autumn. The main thing is to plant early at the right time. Generally in spring, planting is carried out before budding, when the soil has thawed 20 to 30 cm.

2. Site preparation for planting

(1) Site preparation

Prepare the site, plow the soil and apply base fertilizer. Hole-shaped site preparation is best. Site preparation should be carried out from 1 quarter to half a year before afforestation; carrying it out 1 year in advance gives better results, and strip site preparation can also be used.

(2) Planting

For seedling planting, generally 1-year-old seedlings with a height of 30 cm and a ground diameter of more than 0.3 cm are best. Before planting, determine the planting points according to the planting design requirements, then dig planting holes at the planting points. The planting hole only needs to be able to hold the seedling, then place the seedling into the hole, taking care to lift it slightly so that the root system spreads fully, insert a planting spade a few centimeters into the side of the planting hole, squeeze it firm, press the pit dug out by the planting spade firm with your foot, and finally cover the surface of the pit with a layer of loose soil to conserve soil moisture. This is called the narrow-slit planting method, and it conserves moisture and stores water better than the wall-side planting method using a shovel. Planting density depends on the forest type.

3. Pruning

Pruning and shaping: in the natural state, the crown is messy and irregular. To promote growth and fruiting, shorten and prune the plant before sprouting, retaining a small portion of fruiting branches, and do not be greedy for too many.

4. Pest and disease control

Sea buckthorn is resistant to pests and diseases. However, for sea buckthorn carpenter moths, sea buckthorn flies and shrinkage disease, once found they still need to be controlled in time. The usual simple and rough treatment is to cut down the diseased plants. But if the disease is not serious or you cannot bear to do so, you can also use chemicals.

Alright, that is all for today's sea buckthorn planting methods. Friends who like it are welcome to forward, comment and share, and for more information welcome to follow Tuliu.com. See you next time, bye-bye
