What are the taboos of growing camellias? Pay attention to these points
1. Avoid direct sun exposure
It usually likes high temperatures and humid environments, but fears direct sunlight. In summer it should be placed in a shaded spot; in late spring and early autumn, it should be moved onto the balcony to get sun so it can develop well.
2. Avoid alkaline soil for cultivation
Soil is the essential foundation for plant growth, and nutrients are all obtained from the soil. Therefore, the soil chosen should be slightly acidic, humus-rich, fairly breathable and well-draining. It is best not to use slightly alkaline or clayey soil, because these soils are not suitable for the plant's growth and development.
3. Avoid low temperatures
Suitable temperature is one of the most important conditions for growing plants, and this plant has relatively high temperature requirements, generally around 18 degrees, so special attention must be paid in winter when the temperature is lower: cold protection and warmth retention for the plant must be done well, otherwise it is very likely to be frostbitten by low-temperature weather.
4. Avoid alkalization
Its leaves are numerous and large, and after each watering the evaporation rate is fast, so water must be replenished in time. But the water in your own home is mostly slightly alkaline, so after long-term watering, alkalization will inevitably occur, while this plant happens to be acidic in nature. Gradually the plant will turn yellow and wither or grow poorly. So before each watering, first mix 8% edible vinegar into the tap water and use it to water, and this problem can be solved.
5. Avoid dry environments
It can only grow quickly in an environment with suitable ventilation and temperature, so place it as much as possible in a room with good north-south ventilation, and try to maintain a relatively ventilated state.
6. Prevent pests and diseases
In addition to paying more attention to care, it is also necessary to prevent diseases and pests.
