Oil bok choy is also called rapeseed greens. It is rich in nutritional value, especially its high vitamin C content, and it grows in southern China. So today, the editor will introduce the planting method for oil bok choy.

1. Base fertilizer

Before sowing rapeseed greens, sufficient base fertilizer needs to be applied. After plowing and sunning the land, apply an equivalent amount of base fertilizer according to the area of the land. The base fertilizer should be mainly farmyard manure, supplemented by compound fertilizers such as potassium phosphate, and thoroughly mixed with the soil to enhance soil fertility, promote seed germination and seedling emergence, strengthen the resistance of the seedlings, reduce the incidence of pests and diseases, and lay a good foundation for high yield and high efficiency.

2. Seed selection

No matter what crop is planted, the first step is to choose a superior variety. The quality of the variety is directly related to the later yield, so when choosing a variety, we should select superior varieties with high yield and strong disease resistance. This can save a lot of trouble in later management and achieve twice the result with half the effort.

3. Seed soaking

When it cannot be determined whether the seeds contain potential pathogens, the seeds should be treated by soaking to eliminate the pathogens inside them. First place the seeds under the sun to sun-dry them for three hours, then soak the seeds in clean water at about 50 degrees until the water temperature drops to 30 degrees. Soak for two hours, then remove them and air-dry them before sowing.

4. Sowing

There are also certain requirements for the sowing time. The most suitable season for sowing is spring. Sowing can be done around March every year, so all preparatory work, such as base fertilizer and seed soaking, should be completed before March. When sowing, water the soil to create adequate moisture according to the soil's moisture condition. Wait until the water has fully entered the soil before sowing. Pay attention to the sowing density and make the beds well to facilitate later management.

5. Management

After the seedlings emerge and grow two true leaves, the first thinning work needs to begin, controlling the spacing of all seedlings at about 3 cm. The second thinning is done when the heart of the vegetable forms, and the planting density needs to be expanded further. During the seedling emergence stage, the water requirement is not great, so there is no need to water as long as the weather is not excessively dry. During the growth period, water at least three times, and do not water in rainy weather.

6. Drainage

Oil bok choy is extremely intolerant of waterlogging, and because the sowing time is in the rainy spring, we need to pay attention to drainage in the garden. If drainage is not timely, the accumulated water will not only have a considerable impact on the growth and development of oil bok choy, but also cause various diseases. Therefore, drainage work after sowing is very important, and it is best to set up waterproof facilities.

The above is the editor's introduction to the planting method for oil bok choy. I hope it can help you!
