Soybean is one of the main crops in our country. It can not only be eaten directly, but can also be processed into many agricultural by-products, and market demand is relatively large. So how do you plant soybeans for high yield? What is the seeding rate per mu?

1. What is the seeding rate per mu for soybean planting?

Soybean planting should determine the seeding rate per mu according to the characteristics of the variety and the size of the seeds. For soybeans, choose varieties such as Jindou 83, Fendou No. 8, and Dahuang No. 1, which are early-maturing, high-yielding, lodging-resistant, and have thick stems.

For small-seeded varieties, sow 6-7.5 jin per mu; for medium-seeded varieties, the seeding rate per mu is 10-12 jin. The retained plant density of soybeans per mu should be no less than 25,000 plants. As long as the seeding rate is adjusted accurately, thinning is generally unnecessary.

2. How do you plant soybeans for high yield?

1. Planting time

The sowing period for soybeans is best arranged from late March to early April. When sowing, choose varieties with strong adaptability, good market quality, relatively high yield, plump seeds, high emergence rate, short growth period, tolerance to shade, tolerance to poor soil, and good tolerance to fertilizer and water.

2. Seedling stage management

(1) Checking seedlings and filling gaps

After emergence, investigate the seedling condition in time. If missing seedlings or broken rows are found, promptly soak seeds and replant with water or transplant seedlings to ensure a full stand.

(2) Promoting seedling growth

At the seedling stage, on the basis of a full stand, promote early development, cultivate strong seedlings, and encourage branching. For fields with deep soil and good fertility, when the soybean seedlings have 4-6 true leaves, remove the growing points of the plants on a sunny morning, or when they have 5-8 true leaves, use paclobutrazol, mepiquat chloride, and similar substances to control excessive growth of winter soybeans and increase the number of effective pods and the plumpness of the seeds.

(3) Cultivation and weeding

Before the rows close at the flowering and podding stage, carry out cultivation and weeding together with topdressing. Cultivation and weeding can loosen the soil, preserve moisture, earth up the soil, and increase soil permeability, which is beneficial to soil microbial activity and the growth of rhizobia, promotes soybean root development, and supports healthy plant growth.

3. Management during the flowering and seed-setting stage

(1) Flowering stage management

During this period, fertilizer and water management should be strengthened to promote more flowering, more pod setting, and an increased number of seeds. If there is too much water, the plants grow excessively, and ventilation and light penetration in the plant canopy and soil are poor, causing flower and pod drop, and even lodging. Long-term water shortage will inhibit flower bud differentiation and cause flower and pod drop.

(2) Pod-filling stage management

The main goals at this stage are to preserve pods, increase seeds, and promote plumpness. In the early pod-filling stage, if premature senescence caused by nutritional deficiency is found, spray fertilizer on the leaves in time.

4. Harvesting soybeans

Generally, from late November to mid-December, when 1/3 of the pods lose their green color and turn yellow-brown, they can be harvested.

Warm reminder: In recent years, intercropping soybeans with crops such as corn and fruit trees has also become relatively popular. It not only improves land utilization, output, and the multiple cropping index, but also builds soil fertility and increases farmers' income. However, special attention should also be paid to the prevention and control of pests and diseases.
