Ginseng is a very precious traditional Chinese medicinal herb and also the one most familiar to everyone. The longer ginseng grows in the ground, the greater its age, and the wider its uses. Since everyone knows how precious ginseng is, a lot of fake ginseng or inferior ginseng passed off as good was once seized on the market. So what exactly is ginseng cultivation technique? Let's take a look together with the editor of Tuliu.com.

1. Planting soil

Ginseng is also precious because it is rare. In our country, or rather in the world, there is not much soil suitable for planting ginseng, so the total planting area is not large either. Ginseng is suitable for growing in black soil or yellow sandy soil. If there is no black soil or yellow sandy soil, you can settle for the next best option and use loam. In any case, the soil must contain a large amount of organic matter. But clay cannot be used; ginseng does not grow well in clay.

2. Planting time

Except in winter, ginseng can be planted in the other three seasons. They are late April to early May in spring, July or August in summer, and late September to late October in autumn.

3. Sowing and planting

When planting ginseng, you can sow the seeds directly or transplant seedlings. Ginseng seeds are quite precious, and not a single one should be wasted. To increase the germination rate, we first soak them in warm water for a while so they fully absorb water, then put them into fine sand or sandy soil and mix evenly, place them in a greenhouse, and start germination once the temperature is adjusted to around 20 degrees. When the seeds have basically all shown white, they can be sown.

4. Planting method

Build a greenhouse on the planting site, and use that kind of light-diffusing plastic film as the outer film, because ginseng likes sunlight but cannot be exposed to it all the time. However, if there is no sunlight in the later stage, it is extremely unfavorable to the growth of its stems and leaves, so whether to provide shade should be decided according to the growth of the ginseng. During the seedling stage, there are no requirements for light; with or without it is fine.

5. Temperature regulation

Besides the soil, it is actually also because the temperature is unsuitable that relatively little ginseng is planted in our country. Ginseng can only grow between 5 degrees and 15 degrees. And such spring-like temperatures all year round are indeed rare in most places. So we still have to adjust the temperature in the greenhouse to a suitable level.

6. Water and fertilizer management

The growth of ginseng cannot do without the supply of nutrients, so we should decide when to start fertilizing according to the growth of the ginseng. Only thoroughly decomposed organic fertilizer can be used. As for watering, ginseng is neither drought-resistant nor flood-resistant, and each watering should preferably soak about seventy percent through.

7. Pest and disease control

A very big factor affecting ginseng yield is the harm caused by weeds and pests and diseases. Weeds can be pulled out by hand, and if there are many, they can also be removed in combination with cultivating and loosening the soil. Insect pests are relatively rare; if pests are found, they can be directly caught and killed by hand. Usually, do a good job of field cleaning and management, dissipate heat in time, and combine some fungicides to disinfect the greenhouse, and so on.
