Peas are a regular guest on people's dining tables, and many growers plant peas. So have you got a clear understanding of the planting methods for peas? Below, the Tuliu.com editor takes everyone through it. Let us grow peas scientifically.

1. Sowing time

1. Because peas can be planted in all seasons, vegetable growers can flexibly set the sowing date according to the season and determine the appropriate sowing date based on the timing requirements for the pods.

2. Peas are a plant that can be grown in all four seasons. But within the four seasons there are also fixed months suitable for planting: autumn shade-net greenhouse cultivation from August to October, autumn open-field cultivation from late August to October, greenhouse film cultivation from October to February of the following year, November winter open-field planting through to January of the following year, spring open-field cultivation from February to April, summer open-field cultivation from May to June, and summer shade-net greenhouse planting from mid-May to mid-June and early July.

2. Planting density

Zhongwan No. 4 and No. 6 are dwarf varieties, with a plant height of 40 to 50 cm, and are suitable for dense planting. In spring, summer and autumn, the row spacing is 35, the hole spacing is 10, with three seeds per hole, and the seed quantity per 667 sq m is about 10 kg. In winter, the row spacing is 40, the hole spacing is 15 cm, with three seeds per hole, and the seed quantity per 667 sq m is about 7 kg.

3. Fertilizer and water management

1. Fertilizing

Choose a field with good soil fertility, convenient irrigation and drainage, and plenty of light. Apply 30 to 40 kg per 667 sq m of a nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium ternary compound fertilizer as a base fertilizer, and also apply a certain amount of organic fertilizer. During the flowering and podding stage, apply 10 kg of urea per 667 sq m or 1,000 kg of human and livestock manure to promote pod growth. In the later stage of growth, depending on growth, a mixture of 0.5 percent urea solution and 0.2 percent potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be used for root fertilization.

2. Watering

Although peas are a deep-rooted crop and relatively drought-tolerant, they still need to be watered in time when the soil is seen to be dry. Especially during flowering and pod formation, the plants are particularly sensitive to water and should be supplemented with water in time. In addition, summer peas should pay even more attention to timely water supply to meet the water needs of plant growth and development, and this can also effectively lower the surface temperature and promote their normal growth.

The above is the planting technology for peas. We hope it is of some help to growers. If you have any questions, you can leave a comment below, and the editor will reply to everyone in time. Remember to share and like.
