Durian has always been famous for its stink, but for people who love eating durian, durian is fragrant, and durian is also very high in nutritional value. So, what precautions are there for growing durian? Let's find out together!

1. Soil

Durian is a tropical fruit, so the choice of planting site requires consideration from many aspects. First is the climate of the planting site, along with some other field-related factors. Soil selection is also a very key point. Since durian needs relatively more nutrients to grow, it is necessary to choose a plot with abundant soil fertility. Next, the soil must have good permeability and a good drainage and irrigation system. It is best if the upper part of the soil layer is relatively loose and the lower part is relatively thick, as this will greatly increase the survival rate of durian planting.

2. Variety

There are now many varieties of durian, but the best is still the durian from Malaysia. One reason is indeed Malaysia's uniquely advantageous geographical location, and another is that durian varieties have already developed resistance to the weather changes there. Therefore, we need to choose suitable varieties according to some local seasonal changes. In this way, the survival rate of the durian trees planted can be higher, and the yield and quality can also be guaranteed. Finally, the service life can also be extended.

3. Temperature

The growth of durian requires a large amount of heat, so the temperature of the planting site needs to be relatively high. It is best if the temperature is relatively stable all year round, with no particularly obvious seasonal changes. The optimal temperature suitable for durian growth is generally around 25 to 30 degrees, and the lowest temperature should preferably not be lower than 10 degrees, otherwise the durian tree will stop growing or may even freeze to death. Therefore, although durian is planted in some places in our country, the reason the yield and quality are not high is mostly the influence of temperature.

4. Density

The growth of durian requires a large amount of light, so the planting density must be very reasonable. If the density is too low, most of the durian's branches and leaves will be shaded, with no direct sunlight, and then it cannot bear fruit, thereby reducing its yield. Therefore, generally about more than 80 durian trees can be planted per mu. The best planting density is about 2.5 to 3 meters between each plant and about 5 meters between each row.

5. Fertilizer and water

The fertilizer and water management of durian trees determines the yield and quality of durian to a large extent. Every year when durian enters its dormant period, a heavy application of fertilizer is needed to ensure the next year's yield. Next, for mature fruit trees, flower-promoting fertilizer and fruit-strengthening fertilizer need to be applied every year. These two fertilizations are key to determining the fruit. For the flower-promoting fertilizer, we mainly use potassium fertilizer and phosphorus fertilizer, which can not only promote flowering but also achieve the effect of preserving fruit. The fruit-strengthening fertilizer is generally applied by spraying, mainly boron fertilizer, so that the fruit can grow fuller and at the same time shorten the fruiting period and achieve a ripening effect.

6. Fruit thinning

Because the number of fruits a durian tree can carry is limited, after it bears fruit each year we must knock down some of the fruits to maintain the normal growth of the tree. If you are reluctant to part with them, it may cause all the durian on the whole plant to fail to grow normally. The most serious case is that it may also cause the fruits to wither due to excessive nutrient consumption. We must be sure to knock down the fruits on the tree that are weaker in growth or deformed or have been damaged by pests and diseases. This is the most correct way to do it.

The above are the precautions for growing durian summarized for you by the editor. I hope they can help you!
