Speaking of the most popular fruit during the Spring Festival, it has to be strawberries. They are not only delicious without causing weight gain, but also good for beauty and skin care, so they are deeply loved by women. However, due to differences in varieties and cultivation methods, strawberries also ripen and go on the market at other times in our country, so when do strawberries usually ripen and go on the market? How do you grow them so the fruit is large and sweet?

I. Introduction to Strawberries:

1. Is the strawberry calyx poisonous?

The strawberry calyx is not poisonous, but it is not clean, as a lot of bacteria and debris remain inside it, so when washing it is best to remove the strawberry calyx and rinse it yourself; only then can you eat it with peace of mind.

2. What nutrients do strawberries have?

Strawberries have high nutritional value, containing rich protein, sugars, pectin, organic acids, vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium, zinc and many other elements the human body needs. Among these, every 100g contains 50-100mg of vitamin C, which is 7 times the content in apples and grapes. At the same time, the content of carotene, calcium, phosphorus and iron is also three to four times that of apples, pears and grapes. They can be eaten by men and women, young and old alike.

II. When Do Strawberries Usually Ripen and Go on the Market?

Strawberries generally ripen and go on the market in June to July, but due to differences in varieties and cultivation methods, the time they go on the market will vary. The approximate market times of various strawberry varieties are as follows:

1. Kinuama strawberry ripening and market time: generally ripens and goes on the market from December to February of the following year, and can be harvested continuously for 6 months; if stored properly, it can be kept naturally for 7-10 days.

2. Toyonoka strawberry ripening and market time: generally ripens and goes on the market in mid-to-late November.

3. Juxing No. 1 strawberry ripening and market time: open-field cultivation generally ripens and goes on the market in late April, while greenhouse cultivation generally ripens and goes on the market in March, and at room temperature it can be stored for about 45 days.

4. Weishi strawberry ripening and market time: generally ripens and goes on the market in mid-May.

5. Zaoguang strawberry ripening and market time: generally ripens and goes on the market from late April to early May.

6. Sanxing strawberry ripening and market time: generally ripens and goes on the market from late April to mid-August, and can be harvested in batches.

7. Virginia strawberry ripening and market time: generally ripens and goes on the market in June to July.

8. Ningyu strawberry ripening and market time: generally from late November to early December.

9. Japan No. 1 strawberry ripening and market time: generally from late November to early February of the following year.

III. How Do You Grow Strawberries So the Fruit Is Large and Sweet?

1. Choosing and preparing the land: what kind of land is suitable for planting?

Strawberries are suitable for growing in environments with loose, fertile soil, sufficient sunlight and strong drainage, so when choosing land, you can choose to plant them in loam or sandy loam with sufficient sunlight. After choosing the land, deep-plow the soil and apply 4000 kg of decomposed farmyard manure, 90 kg of calcium fertilizer and 40 kg of potassium fertilizer per mu, then dig field beds 20cm wide and 20cm high at a spacing of 25cm, in preparation for later planting.

2. Planting seedlings: how do you plant them?

(1) Seedling selection: choose seedlings that are robust in appearance, disease-free, undamaged and highly disease-resistant; for example, varieties of the Sachinoka bloodline can be planted, but it is best to buy virus-free second-generation seedlings for planting.

(2) Planting method: plant the seedlings in the seedling field at a spacing of 40cm, then slowly cover with soil and firm it down, and cover with plastic film.

(3) Post-planting management techniques: control temperature and humidity well; if the temperature is high, the plastic film can be removed, and water and ventilation management should be done well.

3. Transplanting: when is the best time to transplant?

(1) Transplanting time: mid-to-late August (when the seedlings have grown 4-5 true leaves).

(2) Transplanting method: dig out the seedlings together with the soil, then plant them into the soil at a spacing of 20cm, finally cover with soil and firm it down, and water once to settle the planting. When transplanting, try to keep the flower clusters facing the same direction.

(3) Transplanting density: generally 12000 plants per mu.

4. Field management techniques: what are the requirements for water and fertilizer?

(1) Temperature requirements: after the strawberry seedlings are successfully transplanted, ensure the daytime room temperature is 25-28 degrees, and the morning temperature is 10-12 degrees, not lower than 8 degrees; when they grow to the flowering stage, the daytime temperature should be 23-25 degrees and the nighttime temperature 8-10 degrees; when they grow to the fruit swelling stage, the daytime temperature should be 20-25 degrees and the nighttime temperature must not be lower than 5 degrees. By controlling the temperature well in this way, the strawberries will become large and sweet.

(2) Water requirements: during the flowering stage and fruit swelling stage, water once, and when watering just make the soil thoroughly moist, but do not overwater, so as to avoid excessive vegetative growth of stems and leaves that affects yield; generally it is best to keep soil humidity at about 60%. In addition, water more in dry seasons, and take good drainage measures in rainy seasons.

(3) Fertilizer requirements: strawberries do not have high fertilizer requirements; generally at the early flowering stage and early fruit-setting stage, apply 10 kg of urea, 20 kg of phosphate fertilizer and 35 kg of compound fertilizer per mu each time, and appropriately apply a suitable amount of potassium fertilizer, magnesium fertilizer, sulfur fertilizer, etc., so that the strawberries grown will become large and sweet.

(4) Cultivating and weeding: after the strawberry seedlings are successfully transplanted, carry out cultivation and weeding two or three times each year to promote the roots to absorb more nutrients.

(5) Appropriate use of growth regulators: after the strawberry seedlings are successfully transplanted, during the flowering and fruiting stage and the fruit swelling stage, you can appropriately spray Caiguo Zhuangdiling to increase the pollen fertilization rate and promote fruit development; this can also make the fruit large and sweet.

The above are the strawberry ripening and market times and the cultivation techniques for making them sweeter. We hope they are helpful to everyone.
