Beet is known as the root of life, how do you fertilize it scientifically?
Beet, also called red beet, is a major source of sugar, and in our country it is mainly distributed in northern regions such as Xinjiang, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia. Today, the editor will introduce to you how to fertilize beet scientifically. Let us take a look together!
1. Base fertilizer
Base fertilizer is also called bottom fertilizer, and it is usually applied according to the principle of heavy and deep application. For general crop planting, base fertilizer is basically mainly farmyard manure or organic fertilizer, and beet is no exception. There are generally three ways to apply base fertilizer. First, it can be applied when preparing the land in autumn. Second, it can be applied when plowing in spring. Finally, it can be applied by breaking ridges and placing fertilizer in the middle or by fertilizing while ridging. The base fertilizer should be spread evenly and used together with a small amount of chemical fertilizer, which can effectively improve the soil structure.
2. Seed fertilizer
Basically, crop planting does not require seed fertilizer. The reason seed fertilizer is applied when planting beet is that beet seeds are very small and low in nutrients. In order to promote seed growth and development, seed fertilizer needs to be applied at sowing. Seed fertilizer is usually mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, or farmyard manure and beet-specific microbial inoculants. Also, when applying seed fertilizer, it should be separated from the seeds to avoid burning the sprouts.
3. Extra-root topdressing
Beet topdressing is mainly divided into two major aspects. The first is extra-root fertilization, and the second is foliar fertilizer. Let us first understand extra-root fertilization. Extra-root fertilization is generally carried out according to the growth condition of beet. When beet is growing well, generally only two extra-root fertilizations are needed, and each topdressing is mainly urea, which can be used together with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, or beet-specific fertilizer. If the growth condition of beet is not very good, then we need to reasonably control the amount of fertilizer and increase the number of topdressings according to the specific situation. When fertilizing, trenches should be opened at the roots, about 7 to 8 cm deep, and after the fertilizer is applied, it can be covered with soil.
4. Foliar fertilizer
In order to improve the quality of beet, we also need to carry out foliar fertilization when applying extra-root fertilizer, so that sugar can accumulate in beet. For foliar fertilization, we need to strictly control the concentration of foliar fertilizer. Generally, about 1 percent potassium fertilizer and about 2 percent phosphorus fertilizer are sprayed, or boron fertilizer is appropriately used, about 30 kg per mu, and according to the beet's demand for nutrients during growth, trace fertilizers should be reasonably supplemented. During root growth of beet, boron fertilizer can be used twice a week to avoid yellowing or decline of the leaves.
